Far from the cleanest, but still a local gem. Prices are unreliable; I’ve paid $9 for a cabbage one day and $3 for it another. Many items are unlabeled, but if you ask for prices, the total will often not be the sum of the items you gave them (last time I was there, my $5 crema and $4 of corn totaled almost $13). The deli section also smells rancid most days of the week.However, with all of this being said, it’s the only grocery store in central or south Oakland open past, like, 4pm. Without it, we would be a food desert. I think this is why the city obviously turns a blind eye to their numerous health code violations.Also, their tacos are awesome.

I would only recommend their canned goods and other non perishable items. I was able to find candies and spices I needed but was very disappointed at the produce. I would NOT recommend the meat, it smelled rancid in the store. Also the smoke from the tacos comes in and my eyes were burning.

Don't know why this place doesn't have way more reviews and hasn't blown up yet, but it deserves so much more hype!! Las Palmas has the most authentic tacos I've had anywhere in Pittsburgh. It's essentially a taco stand outside of a Mexican grocery store -- you can't get any more authentic than that! You pay upfront by letting the cashier know how many tacos you want to get (3 was a good amount for a filling meal) and then you go up to the guy cooking and specify which meats you want in your tacos. You can see them literally cooking the meat right in front of you and it smells sooo good. I tried 3 different ones because I couldn't decide. There's a self serve toppings bar w all the classic options (salsas, guac, onions, etc) for you to load up your tacos after you get them freshly handed to you. The tacos were fire. There isn't any seating nearby which is probably my only complaint so we just ate them on some random steps nearby, but it's such a good vibe especially in the summer. If you're looking for tasty, cheap, and authentic tacos in Pittsburgh, this is your place!

Love the tacos here. This time seemed like they were pre-made and never touched the grill. I still liked them, but same as hearing/seeing them cook in front of you.

The taco stand outside is very good. You have to go inside to the cash register where you pay for the tacos first, then give your receipt to the man at the taco stand where you order your tacos. Order when it's busy, tacos aren't great if it's not busy as the meat sits and looses freshness. But tacos are good.

The prices posted on most grocery products do not reflect the actual price that you are charged. And they do not offer you an itemized receipt unless you ask for it which is highly suspicious imo. Unfortunately this is one of the only independent grocers in South Oakland and has lots of specialty products that I use so I will continue to shop here. But be careful when looking at the posted prices. I would report them to some sort of consumer protection bureau for these practices if I knew who to contact

Really bad costumer service. Good ethnic selection of groceries. Ok tacos!. Watch out for the unlabeled products. Found expired ones already.
