Hands down, THE place for all your wine and sake needs in Western PA. I did my WSET certifications from Palate Partners and 100% recommend it. Deb is a wonderful teacher and a treasure trove of knowledge, without being pedantic- an impressive feat! She is also the authority on wine and sake in the area, so you really can't hope for a better mentor.I would also highly recommend checking out- Dreadnought wines (Palate Partner's sister company) for purchasing wine. Deb and Mike do a wonderful job of stocking some gems which are very hard or impossible to find in the state stores.

I'd highly recommend Palate Partners and Deb Mortillaro for bringing to you a fantastic wine tasting experience. With Deb you get to experience the Art and Science of Wines and their tasting. The stories and rich experiences that accompany the wine are just wonderful. Deb is great at picking the right wine for the occasion as well.I attended a private networking event with her and was compelled to get some gift certificates as christmas gifts for wine loving friends. Another private virtual event with these friends for a pre valentine's day celebration turned out great! Was very easy to organize fairly last minute and was a big hit. All I have to say is that if virtual is this great - I cant wait to go in for in-person wine tastings!

The perfect place to start, or advance, your wine education. Deb is an amazing instructor that teaches with passion and genuine excitement. The atmosphere is friendly, engaging, and a lot of fun. Much better than other schools that simply just regurgitate what is written in the WSET manuals. Palate Partners goes beyond mindless memorization and provides an environment that gives you the ability to truly understand the material. This will give you a huge advantage if you plan on advancing up the WSET levels.Simply the only place I’d recommend when it comes to learning about wine/spirits.Fred - WSET Level 3

I recently attended two of Deb's cooking classes and they were both so much fun. Deb is energetic and willingly shares inside kitchen secrets - current ones as well as those from her days at the Culinary Institute of America. I highly recommend the classes. Deb uses a video conferencing program called "Bluejeans" - it's like Zoom but with a better camera.

Adam and Deb are two of the most amazing teachers that I have ever had the pleasure of drinking with. They share the rare quality of being extremely knowledgeable without any hint of snobbery. I would recommend anyone who has the slightest interest in learning more about wine or spirits to take a class here. Even for someone who works in the industry, I found the wine 101 course to be extremely informative and reminded me that there is still so much to learn. Keep up the good work!

Palate Partners has become one of my favorite places in Pittsburgh. Located in the Strip District right across the street from Penn Mac, Palate Partners has a wide range of wine and wine merchandise for sale. Note, due to the archaic PA liquor control laws, you can't buy wine and take it with you the day you buy it. Instead, you have to wait two days to pick it up. However, they have wines that are not available at the PCLB stores and the wine merchandise makes for great and reasonably priced gifts. Most importantly, Palate Partners holds wine tastings every 1st and 3rd Friday of the month. For $12, tasters get to sample three whites and three reds selected by the store owner. These wine tastings are a great way to try new wines as well as a way to decompress and socialize on a Friday after work.
