Had a wonderful high tea celebration for a friend’s birthday. Great food, lovely service. Robert took great care of us! Thank you.

Because of the long standing reputation of the William Penn I expected nothing but an exceptional experience. The service was excellent- the waitstaff was very attentive. However I was disappointed that we were not able to select from a variety of teas - we were served three teas but they seemed to be very ordinary, common teas that I could have bought at a local grocery store. The tea sandwiches were tasty but we got far more sweets than savory sandwiches. I would have preferred more savory tea sandwiches and just a couple of sweets. The dining room ambiance was calm and relaxing but it was a cold day and we were seated next to a drafty window which made for a chilly experience. For $55 per person I had higher expectations. I probably won't go back anytime soon.

First, this is a truly beautiful and relaxing place. All the staff seemed to appreciate us as patrons. However there is a downside right now. The menu is small and relatively unappetizing. Entrees are limited. This really wouldn't be all that bad but our food was way overdone, dry and very unappealing. One of the entrees was the Amish Chicken. It was very hard to eat and consisted of a small chicken leg that was burned and extremely dry. We as a rule never send anything back and it was Valentines Day as well. The cost is also fairly high with regard to what you get. I think the saving grace is that they are getting a new chef and new menu. Don't know if we would go back.

The Terrace Room is one of my favorite restaurants. I have been going for many years to the Terrace Room, but only a couple times per year as it is very expensive. The food and service are always exceptional which makes the big bill a little easier to pay.

My wife and I really enjoyed the throwback to the early 1900's. It was the best afternoon tea we have had at the Terrace Room and we have been coming for 18 years. The servers were excellent. The food was outstanding. An the way they were serving the tea was the best yet. We also went down to the Speakeasy afterwards and had a drink which was also excellent.

I noted it was a special occasion- my niece who I don't get to see a lot is expecting twin boys and asked for some extra touch to commemorate . I noted I would pay any difference that it might cost. Absolutely nothing was done not even a flower or a little cake or pastry acknowledging. I was extremely disappointed and wondered why they request the information when nothing is done .

Sooo outdated. Menu is old school, dull and ingredients were not fresh or good quality at all. It's really too bad as the space is lovely and the service was outstanding - really lovely caring and attentive staff. But this place needs a refresh STAT!

There was a snowstorm the day of our reservation. The Terrace Room confirmed with me a number of times to verify if we were still planning on coming. Once we got there, the valet took very good care of us even though we weren't guests. The maitre d took care extremely good care of us and showed us some historical photos of the table we were at. It was perfect, from the snow to the ambiance, to the tea sandwhiches. 10/10 recommend to a friend.

The tea sandwiches were very good but the hotel needs to update the menu posted to its website so that it reflects what is actually available. We were not offered a choice of tea and there is no champagne flight with additional tea sandwiches. It was a nice Christmas activity for my family but less than we hoped or expected.

Great way to see this beautiful hotel. Absolutely gorgeous and the food was delicious. Brunch was worth every penny. The sausage and biscuits were amazing. My daughter didn't like much so the waitress just charged us for a regular scrambled egg meal and didn't force the full buffet on her. High recommend.

The holiday decorations and ambience at the Terrace Room made for a nice place to celebrate a friend's birthday over brunch. There was a nice assortment of very tasty options on the brunch menu. The staff were all very friendly and attentive, but we certainly did not feel rushed through our meal or visit at all.

We ate here on Thanksgiving and it was a wonderful experience. Compared to other places with a buffet, there were no hoards at the buffet line, the food quality was excellent and we were not rushed out of there. The noise level was nice and we were able to have a real conversation without yelling at each other across the table. The food choices were limited, but they had everything you could want: garlic mashed potatoes, stuffing, etc. Sometimes more choices is just too much. And everything was just delicious. The ambience was classy and elegant, but not stuffy. The lobby was decorated for Christmas and that helped put us all in a holiday mood. We liked it so well, we plan to come back for a birthday celebration in January.

This was one of the best places we have ever eaten. And we eat out a lot. The hotel was magnificent. The Terrace Room was superb. The food and the staff were amazing. We will definitely book next Thanksgiving dinner here.

Centrally located this historic building has been refurbed for modern comfort. The room was very spacious and the amenities were good. Was there for a conference and all the facilities and food were great.

I am so disappointed in the staff of this hotel. It just seems so many people are apathetic, have no pride in their work or strive to do the basics of their work. I called for a hotel room for a dear friends wedding. The girl who answered the phone refused to book my room. Although there were rooms available in the reserved block. Because my ccard expired before the date of the event. But was current at the time. I asked for a manager. She checked with a manager. Same story. Ridiculous. When I received a new card. They were sold out. Of course. Whomever I spoke to pretty much said “sorry about your luck”. Said I should have asked for a manager. I told her I did. Told me I had been given incorrect info the first time . And also stated … call back every day. THIS IS how a notable hotel operates. She also told me IF I am lucky enough to get one when I call back daily. I am no longer eligible for the reserved rate. If you book this hotel. Be prepared to work at it like a part time job.
