My wife and I hired Stumpf Moving to move us from the North Hills to the South Hills. Initially, my wife and I were concerned our move was too small, light or beneath Stumpf Moving, as I knew them for their piano/high value moving jobs, but chose them after meeting “Big John” during our estimate. Big John couldn’t have been nicer or patient. Big John owns/operates the family business and explained their insurance process, how they take extra care to preserve the warranty of our belongings and assured me his movers are long-time, direct employees (never subcontracted).
On the day of the move, the crew arrived on-time, and their trucks were clean, organized, tidy. We did a walk through and then they got right to work. They padded corners and doorways, and I feel like they went above and beyond to protect our belongings. At one point, I told one of the movers he didn’t have to plastic wrap a coffee table (I didn’t know movers did this) but he said they prefer to be safe than sorry.
Once at the new house, we did another walk through before they started unloading. I especially appreciated the professionalism and communication. They specifically asked where I wanted heavier items, if I wanted the bed frame assembled and the carpets rolled out...I neither felt they were dropping off hastily, nor meandering to extend the job.
One of the movers told me they move for Steinway & Sons. After seeing them work, I know why they were trusted with such high dollar things. It’s SUPER cheesy but the crew made me feel like this move was just as important as any expensive piano.
Moving is the worst, but Stumpf Moving made it way better. I was moved (pun intended) by the time and care they took with my valuables and highly recommend them.

Hello neighbors! I would like to recommend a furniture-moving business to anyone who is looking for help getting oversized, awkward, and/or very heavy furniture into your new homes: Stumpf Moving and Storage, a family-owned and operated specialty moving company here in Pittsburgh.
We were in a huge pickle yesterday when our new, very oversized sectional sofa was delivered. Unfortunately, it’s just too long and there was no possible way to get in into our house via the stairs to the second floor. The only choice we had was to return it (unhappy wife), or find a specialty moving company that would reasonably lift it from our driveway and bring the sofa in via the sliding glass door off the balcony.
After a lot of googling, I found Stumpf - and they had photos of them crane lifting pianos and other large items into houses and buildings. So I called them up, sent photos of our predicament, and they showed up 2 hours later to get it done. A whole team of guys lifted this heavy, huge sofa into the air, and got it in no problems whatsoever. No damage, no scrapes or wall dings, didn’t even have to remove the sliding glass door or balcony railing.
The peace of mind, relief, (and happy wife) were well worth the reasonable cost.
They didn’t ask me to recommend them to my neighbors, but I’m doing it anyways because they deserve it.

Stumpf moved us locally in Pittsburgh from a 1600 square foot house. They were extremely friendly and professional, taking care to cover walls and floors to avoid damage. They checked in with us often to ensure they were taking the right things and placing them in the right area. Amazing service for a fair price, would definitely use again.

I hired Stumpf Moving & Storage to move my Steinway grand piano from Monroeville, PA to Wexford, PA. The crew (JT, Stan, and Josh) did a fantastic job wrapping and protecting my piano for the move. They moved quickly and efficiently, having the piano out of my old home and into my new home in no time at all. I could not be happier with their level of professionalism and service, a true ten out of ten in my book!
