I have been boarding at Star Stables for over 7 years now and was riding here before then. I found my heart horse here at Star Stables. I have been all around in various barns from top notch to not so hot. I would put Joe and Barbs stable at the very top of my list at number 1. They go above and beyond for the owners and horses. Just some of the things they do on a daily basis contain of watering the horses and keeping the buckets and troughs filled, haying and graining them twice a day, cleaning stalls, daily turn out (weather permitting), and keeping an eye on them 24/7. I am beyond grateful for their experience in equine care and they take the time to learn the horses and their behavior. They will let you know when your horse is not feeling his greatest and give you support on how to approach the the issue. They have cameras in the barn to keep tabs on the horses and secure the property, clean tack rooms, a wash area for the owners with a fridge and drinks, a heated viewing area as well as benches infront of the arena to watch, multiple barrels, bending poles, and jumps to meet the desires of all disciplines, a grooming stall, 3 cross ties in the aisle, outdoor and indoor ring (which is dragged regularly), swept aisles, cleared riding trails and neighboring properties that allow us to take trails in certain paths, as well as personalized feeding plans for your horse. I could go on and on about the barn but the real treasure is the owners Joe and Barb who do all the hard work day in and day out without complaint. They always have a smile on their face and welcome you with open arms. They are the humblest people I have ever met. They care for their boarders and horses at every extent and do not put up with drama to ensure a safe haven for us all here. I would and do recommend their farm to everyone and anyone looking for a reliable, drama-free barn! I wish I could give more than five stars because they truly deserve it! There is no better place than JB McCabe Star Stables!

The owners are rude, not helpful and quick to be angered and/or offended. Don’t want to be bothered, and simply looking for a check. It's usually pretty quiet, nobody around. The barn is always dark. The website has not been updated in over 10 years, and it is definitely not a vibrant fun barn that it may have been at one time. I was never comfortable. This barn doesn’t have a welcoming feeling at all.

I've been at this farm for two years. That's how long it took for their true colors to shine. The owners are rude, not helpful and quick to be angered and/or offended. It's usually pretty quiet, nobody around. The barn is always dark. The website has not been updated in over 10 years, and it is definitely not a vibrant fun barn that it may have been at one time. They cut the grass WAY too short and way too often. The field that they had my horse in was mostly dirt, and in turn throw hay out every day all year long, which is a waste of money in the summer when there is perfectly good grass growing. One day, I discovered a long deep gash in my horses hip area. Along with some smaller gashes on his shoulder. I told Joe about it, and suggested that it looks like a nail from a fence board. He quickly backed away irritated saying "there aren't any G** D*** nails in my fence. They roll. They do that. Probably rolled on a rock." First off, I'm not stupid and I know better. So I took it upon myself to care and brought my own hammer and found SEVERAL nails sticking out of the fence. Which I hammered back in so my horse would stop getting hurt. My horse was also getting his tail caught on his water bucket, which is something I think they should have noticed and tried to prevent it from happening further, in which they did nothing. The one day a week that I was coming to the barn, I was removing more hair and re-taping the water bucket. So it all came down to the "final straw". I dropped my wife off at the farm, and she took the horse and went for a walk. When she came back, I was there waiting for her. Apparently they had been searching all over the farm going frantic looking for our horse, but nobody bothered to call or text and ask if we even had him. Joe comes into the barn yelling at my wife, cussing at her, G** D*** this and GD that. I was not going to stand by and watch some man talk to and treat my wife disrespectfully. So, I walked up to the barn and told him not to talk to my wife that way. There was no violence, no threats, no weapons, just words, and he proceeds to call the police and told us to get off the property. Both parties are probably at fault because there was no communication between anybody. But first of all, there was NO reason to get that angry. Second, NO reason to talk such foul language and be that disrespectful to a paying client. Not to mention, my 12-year-old child was present. So if you are looking for a fun and vibrant barn to interact and be social, this place is not for you and I strongly do not recommend it. But if you are just looking a place to stick your horse and don't really care, then this might just be the place for you. Joe has mentioned on several occasions in random conversations that he has several boards that just mail a check and they don't come for months. I think that's how they want it. They want the income, but not the problems.

Very unprofessional. My horse was there for a while. I was there almost every day. Stalls weren't clean. I actually had to clean his. Indoor is really nice but doesn't make up for the attitude.

Very unprofessional, and uncooperative attitude. The owners here do not care about what is best for the horse and owners, just looking for a check.

My horses have been boarded at the stables for five years. The level of care provided to the horses is like no other stable I’ve been at. Joe and Barb get to know your horse and go out of their way to help you and your horse. The stables are always clean and the horses are well cared for. The pastures are well maintained and the indoor and outdoor rings are great. I would recommend this stable for your horses.

Boarded my horse here and let me just say the customer service and atmosphere of the stable was Top Notch. Water buckets always full the Stalls were always spotless fresh bedding fresh hay twice a day always on time with the feeding schedule. Joe and Barb McCabe are just all around down-to-earth people there to help you every step of the way and happy to answer any question you have. And on top of that the indoor arena is well-kept and just amazing to work in with your horse. if you were looking to board your horse or rent an indoor arena this is definitely the place to do it.

We recently moved out of the area, but prior to moving we boarded our horses at JB McCabe Star Stables for 6 years. The hardest thing about moving from the Red Lion area was taking our horses away from Star Stables. Joe and Barb treated our horses like they were their horses. They go above and beyond in their care of the boarded horses and we never had to worry about our horses while they were there. The facilities are excellent which include large 12’ x 12’ stalls, a large indoor arena and a large outdoor arena. There are numerous separate and spacious pastures in which there would only be 2 horses in each pasture. We would go over and see our horses almost every day and we became very close friends with Joe and Barb. We observed first hand how Joe and Barb treated and cared for the horses and needless to say we were extremely impressed. I would not hesitate recommending Star Stables to anyone looking to board their horse. We noticed a previous review stating that they would not recommend the stable and that Joe and Barb did not take care of the horses and were just concerned with getting a check. This really made me mad because nothing could be farther from the truth. In the spring while we were out of town one of our horses had a medical emergency and the vet said he needed to immediately go to the equine hospital in Chester County for an operation. Joe and Barb immediately transported him there before we could make it back home and refused to accept any money from us for their time and transportation of our horse to and from Chester County. We will never be able to thank them enough for what they did that day. Bottom line is that if you want an excellent facility to board your horse go to JB McCabe Star Stables, once you tour the facility and meet Joe and Barb you will have no doubt that this will be the stable for your horse.

Very well run facility. These owners go above and beyond for their clients. Water troughs are always full and spotless, all horses on the property look fantastic. Horses are fed and hayed 2x a day at the same time. They arrange farrier and vet if the clients prefer.Indoor and outdoor arenas are well kept. Great fields with options of field or full board. The Mccabe's are fantastic!
