W.A. Young & Sons Foundry and Machine Shop, built in 1900, is a preserved gem of America’s industrial past. This National Historic Landmark, recognized in 2017, offers visitors a unique glimpse into the workings of early 20th-century manufacturing. The shop produced parts for steamboats, coal mines, and railroads until its closure in 1965, leaving its tools and machines untouched. Guests can enjoy guided tours of the machine shop, pattern shop, and foundry, with enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff who bring the history to life through live demonstrations of the original machinery.
