My husky had ripped most of her dewclaw off Sunday afternoon. There was blood everywhere in the house & I tried my best to stop the bleeding. Called Creature Comforts for an emergency visit & they were able to see husky. Initially, the plan was to bandage the injury & come back Monday for the dewclaw to be surgically removed, however an exception was made to do the surgery while we were there. The price for an emergency visit on a Sunday + minor surgery was very fair! All around pleasant experience.

I’m concerned that the anger is getting in the way of providing proper care.I’ve been a customer of creature comforts for almost five years. They have seen my ferrets since they were babies as exotic vets are hard to come by. I had a few very tense conversations with the reception staff as I was being assertive for my pets needs. They have denied me the implant for about a year even though my baby was clearly showing signs and symptoms of adrenal ( she had no hair left on her tail and was visibly losing weight over a short period). I finally get them to say yes today but they were very argumentative about it and difficult to communicate with. When I got there Dr. Karin seemed not her usual self very short not making eye contact not asking about my ferrets symptoms. She immediately start giving her an aggressive examination and then when giving the implant with at least an 18g needle poke through her skin ! There was an entry and exit wound ! That’s not supposed to happen and she addressed that and tried again! She didn’t provide me any information on what to do for the unnecessary bloody wound even when my ferret was scratching at it she said “it would close up fine”. She literally impaled my animal ? She then asked the techs to leave so she could confront me alone without anyone else in the room. She told me I was “disrespectful to staff” And that “if I believe everything is see online I must believe that people are eating dogs in spring-field” not sure why it had to go that way I’ve been giving them my time and money for years I travel an hour there. I will not be going back and I will be getting my ferret proper care for her puncture wounds.

I had an emergency with my guinea pigs - after suddenly losing two of them, a third got sick and I feared they had pneumonia, which can wipe out an entire herd. I called as a new client and they were able to fit me in the same day. The receptionist was very kind, and while it took a few minutes on the phone, the kept checking in with me and letting me know they were working on it and I hadn’t been forgotten.
Our appointment was quick and efficient and very inexpensive for an emergency same-day exotics appointment. They took an x-ray and confirmed that my sick boy had inflammation in his lungs. The vet was kind and knowledgeable, and got us in and out.
Thankfully, after some antibiotics and Vitamin C supplementation, he and the rest of my guinea pigs are back to their healthy, happy selves!
I’m so glad to know there is a local exotics vet that can work you in as soon as possible when it’s needed. If I hadn’t been able to get him in to the vet that day, I might have lost him and it could have continued to spread through the rest of my pigs.

I would leave negative stats if I could. I had a concerning experience with Creature Comforts last week. The vet was alarmist and seemed more focused on pressuring me into paying nearly $3000 than on truly addressing my cat's needs. She spoke to me about 4 times the whole visit and just stared at her computer, typing, while I was panicking about my sick cat. I asked if anything could help or if I could go somewhere cheaper and she said “nobody will do the surgery without it being extra.” Feeling uneasy about the situation, I sought a second opinion and found a more compassionate practice. They performed the necessary pyometra surgery for just $230, and their approach was both professional and empathetic. It’s disheartening to encounter predatory practices in a field that should prioritize animal welfare. I strongly recommend seeking other options and being cautious when dealing with Creature Comforts. They don’t care about you or your pet, just their pockets. There’s no reason why a $230 surgery should be almost $3000. I would love to hear their bs excuses. I will be reporting this horrendous practice to the PA state board of veterinarians and you should too. This is the only way this money hungry practice will be shut down and give justice to the innocent pet owners they prey on daily

Our dog Sammi, an 8 year old beagle mix, recently became very ill on our beach vacation. We communicated with Dr. Karin at Creature Comforts and were told to bring her in immediately. We rushed to Saylorsburg from Cape May. Because of Dr. Karin's insightful diagnosis, she was able to save our beloved pet. Dr. Karin and her staff always work tirelessly to help sick and injured pets. They methodically devise a plan, follow it to the letter, and follow up without compromise. We trust Dr. Karin implicitly and would never go anywhere else for treatment or check-ups or vaccines. Very simply, she is the best!

I initially had a positive impression of Creature Comforts, especially since they were willing to perform surgery on my elderly dog when many others would not. However, my experience has since taken a turn for the worse. During my most recent visit, I arrived on time for my scheduled appointment and was promptly brought into the facility. Unfortunately, I ended up waiting in the exam room for over an hour without being seen. Additionally, the staff’s lack of communication and unprofessional behavior further contributed to my disappointment. This lack of timely service and professionalism has significantly impacted my opinion of the practice.

Everyone there was very good. They were very responsive and empathetic to our pet’s needs. You cannot go inside and have to wait in your car which is something we aren’t used to doing. Their emergency 24 hour service is a Godsend for anxious people with sick pets. Their process is a bit different than we are used to, but it had no impact on our dog’s care. We were on vacation when our dog took sick, so we are fortunate and thankful to have found them.

I never leave reviews, but in the hopes I can help someone else, I recommend you do NOT take your rabbit here. The vet tech pulled my rabbit out of her carrier by her ears, did not support her rear end, and mistreated her which resulted in us ending our visit early. Any rabbit savvy person knows such practices can result in injury and even death of the rabbit. Mind you, I took my rabbit there to address emergency symptoms. It is beyond me that a staff member found this to be acceptable. It’s an indication that proper training/certification is non-existent, or there is simply blatant disregard for the safety and welfare of small animals. There is an entire Facebook page dedicated to seeing this place shuttered - I wish I knew that prior to taking my pet here. Staff are also unprofessional as the other reviews mentioned.

Creature Comforts Vet and its staff are nothing short of extraordinary. From the first phone call to the moment you walk in, you’re met with warmth, professionalism, and genuine care for your pet. Dr van Horn is incredibly knowledgeable and compassionate, going above and beyond to ensure the best care possible. Alyssa makes you feel like family, treating my Toulouse with the utmost kindness and attention. I couldn’t ask for a better experience for my furry friend. Highly recommend!

CCVS saved my dog’s life earlier this year, and for that I am eternally grateful. Drs & vet staff are friendly, knowledgeable and caring. They always explain everything and have a love for animals as it shows in their interactions with them.
