I have actually never been in a filthier hotel in my life. The Hilton Scranton is not the newest hotel out there. That’s ok. Being old doesn’t mean something is filthy. The first room they gave us had two queen beds. The first thing we noticed was how stuffy the room smelled. Perhaps the air/heating/fan was turned off. The room was a disaster (see pictures). The carpet had stains everywhere we looked, the bed headboards had stains, there were cobwebs on the ceiling, and an electrical panel was left open. There was also a calcified stain by the toilet caused most likely from a dripping pipe.
We went to the front desk immediately because we didn’t feel comfortable staying in a dirty room. The front desk did give us a new room right away. The second room was an improvement from the first, but it still wasn’t very clean. The headboard had stains, and the drawers had was looked like dead bugs (see pictures) in them. The glasses for water were dirty. Whoever cleaned the room just wiped surfaces that were visible but didn’t move items around.
The elevator button panels were also covered in dust and other filth.
The acting manager at reception did try his best to remedy the situation and comped 1 night, but we still had to wipe down room surfaces ourselves, and that shouldn’t be the case for a Hilton Hotel. I also told the front desk that I did not have a car when I checked in, but they still tried to charge me for parking ($15). Once again the manager remedied that problem but started complaining about his cleaning staff, which made me a bit uncomfortable. We told the manager about the filthy elevator button panels, and although he acted upset, a day later the panels were still filthy.
The Hilton Scranton does not live up to the Hilton brand name, and it cannot guarantee a level of cleanliness one would expect. I would recommend staying somewhere else if you visit the electric city.

We stayed one night for a wedding in the electric city room. We had a 6th floor room that had very stained carpet and painter’s plastic on the windows so we couldn’t see outside. The bed was comfortable. TV service is outdated. The shower water pressure was terrible and not very hot. We parked our car on the street, but upon receiving our receipt via email- they charged us for overnight parking in the garage. I called the front desk and had that charge refunded. Nice cafe in the lobby for morning. Breakfast was the same as what’s included in the price of other hotels. I’d choose a different hotel in the area.

I had a nice stay, but my review is about the cleanliness and view of the room. The day we checked in, there were workers outside who came and put opaque plastic on the outside of the windows. It felt like I was trapped in a box. When we checked in, I thought the room smelled dusty, but the room looked clean. However, when we checked out, I peeked behind the dresser to make sure nothing fell back there and it was filled with trash, dust, old cups, and coffee lids. It was very nasty. I told the front desk about both issues, but they said they were painting and didn't say anything when I brought up the trash.

I’m a LIFETIME Diamond Hilton Honors Member and was given room 527 for my one night stay while in Scranton on business. This room smells SO bad. I would say it’s a cross between stinky sweaty socks, mildew, musty, and did I mention stinky socks that have never been washed?. It’s god awful bad and I don’t know why this has not been addressed. Theres no way this happened overnight. If you stay here, DO NOT let them give you room 527. Good luck!

Was in town for a Reapers Revenge deal which btw is a steal for VIP tickets and an overnight stay. Rooms were clean and well appointed (I had to travel for work all during the pandemic and I can't say the same for many higher end hotels in major cities). Staff were all super nice and welcoming and as another person mentioned in reviews, the breakfast is above most I've ever had. Standard hot and cold items but also a chef to make eggs, omelets, French toast etc fresh fruit, yogurt, nice bread. Ours was included with the haunted Halloween attraction tickets but even at 15/person it's a great deal. Would def stay here again if I was in the area. Parking was also nearby for $15 per day, close to shopping and restaurants but quiet at night though if you get are there when there's a wedding I would avoid the second floor as there's a reception area on that floor near the rooms.

Rooms: I had a double queen room, which was very spacious. The bathroom was also a pretty good size.
Nearby activities: Steam town was only 2 blocks away, and we were able to see the train that offers rides, right from our room.
Walkability: There were sidewalks on both sides of the street, and they were in good condition. The terrain, for the most part, is pretty level and not much of an incline for the walk we took.
Food and drinks: We had the breakfast buffet in the hotel for the first day of our stay. The food was good. There was a chef making any kind of omelet you might have wanted, and he also made pancakes or French toast to order. The following day, we ate in the pub in the hotel and the food was delicious.

This was the worst hotel I've EVER stayed in! Over $200 a night & TERRIBLE service (the front desk people are very pleasant). Rooms are old, (we were told all of the rooms would be renovated prior to our event) but I had to fix the toilet twice so it would flush, the shower had mildew build up all in the grout, towels had holes in them, we had hardly any toilet paper when we checked in & I had to ask the front desk to send some up even though I asked housekeeping. Plus, housekeeping never came in after the 1st night, so I had to get towels & coffee cups from the front desk, but they couldn't give me anything else that was supposed to be restocked! No hair dryer in the room either. The air conditioner banged so loudly every time it came on, enough to wake you up. They also charge guests $15 a night for self parking because they don't own the only garage next to the hotel!! We had a lot of people staying there for a wedding in the area & EVERYONE had issues with their rooms too! The bar/restaurant was the only positive experience.
Food and drinks: The bar was the ONLY positive experience here!

Had a great stay at the Hilton in Scranton! Great room and great experience! But what made it even better was Tiffany, the bartender down at the bar. She was sweet, sociable, and made a great drink! Will def be back! ❤️
