“I don't usually write reviews at all but I have been so moved by this funeral home and their compassion and services. In February 2022 I came to them for a cremation when my mother died. John was so very gentle with me. Everything went so easily and smoothly. I felt in very capable and kind hands.Within a day or two, after I had made the arrangements and left, John contacted me because I had left a ring on my mother's finger, and he asked me if I wanted it. Also, my requests around the ashes were a bit unusual and he was able to make sure everything I wished for was accomplished. Now, a year later, I have received a lovely card recognizing the one year anniversary of my loss. I am so touched this funeral home's sensitivity and kindness. I can't recommend them enough!”

“I want to thank Keith Hodges and the team at Beckett-Brown and Hodges funeral home for handling the arrangements of my mother with care. Their coordination wih the printers, florist, church and cemetary were great; less for us to think about. When we discussed the long drive from the church to the cemetary, they recommended we opt for boxed lunches and a shorter repast instead of the traditional repast meu. Just another example of their knowledge and professionalism. I definitely recommend them for your funeral needs.”

“No one is ever really prepared for the loss of a loved one. You find yourself in a time of great sadness having to make decisions that will impact forever how you remember that person. Picking the right place to handle the task is of utmost importance. It was predetermined that my mother would be cremated. While most funeral homes offer cremation services, a lot of them outsource the job to a third-party and are members of a larger conglomerate. It was deeply comforting to know that once our loved one reached Cavanagh, everything was handled in-house. The same compassionate people who took the time to get to know our family and guide us through planning the service were also the ones caring for her with dignity behind the scenes. That continuity meant the world to us. Brian Gill guided us through the process with professionalism, knowledge and kindness. He was always available for questions and the follow-up was appreciated. On the morning my mother passed I received a call from Paul who wanted me to know he was leaving to pick up my mom. I can’t remember exactly what he said but I felt comforted in the words he offered. Cavanagh Family Funeral Homes are members of the community and to us it was important that we patronize a locally owned family business and not lining the pockets of corporate shills. “The reviews are shocking. That is why I had to write a review. I haven't had ANY bad experience with Brian or his staff. I had my mother service here 2016, grandmother, 2017, father, 2021, great aunt 2024. The staff was compassionate, friendly, welcoming, professional. They answered any questions that I may have had and kept me updated during the whole process. Yes, the space is small if you have a large family. Parking is off street. But the location is in the heart of North philly. You have to be from North to understand. Brian is affordable and will help you out the best way he knows how.”
