I have been banking with Univest for decades. The 1 star comes from a very serious situation that did not actually cause harm or anything much more than an inconvenience. This situation, however, completely eroded my trust in the bank and destroyed the relationship. For decades, Univest has always toute that they service their own loans. Well, recently, I received notice that Univest is selling off loans. My recently refinanced home mortgage one. I received notice 3 weeks prior to the change date. The company now servicing the loan is some no-name mortgage company. I called the back to find out what was going on. I was told that if I wanted to keep my loan at Univest, I would need to do a refinance loan (this would be a higher rate, obviously). I then asked to speak to someone higher up. I was in hold for 5 or so minutes when the original person came back online. I was told the "supervisor" was busy, and they would have someone reach out to me. It is now coming up on a week later, and no return call. If you are looking for a local bank that to build a relationship with, Univest is no longer that back. I expect this treatment from Chase or some other big back, but from a bank who used to use their in-house servicing and relationship building as its selling point is unacceptable.
