Horrible repair shop. My husband dropped off a log splitter for them to replace a drain nut that was stripped along with the manufacturer's replacement nut. For three weeks we didn't hear anything. They wouldn't answer the phone. When I went to pick it up because at this point we were tired of waiting for them to get around to it- they lost the replacement nut that we had dropped off with it. I had to call the manufacturer again and get a second replacement. In addition to this- while I was waiting for the gentleman behind the counter to locate the log splitter- another customer came in asking about his generator that they had for over a year. We won't be going back.

I have purchased three Stihl and one Husqvarna chainsaw, and numerous chains, bars, oil etc. from Henry and his staff over the last 20 years. I have also had several mowers, tillers, and weed eaters serviced or repaired. Everyone has always been helpful, polite, and knowledgeable. Store is stocked with an amazing selection of anything you may need. Prices are competitive, but you get better service both before and after making a purchase than you can get at most other businesses.

In Spring 2023, we bought a used Husqvarna lawnmower for $550 plus trade-in at Small Engine & Hardware. We later found out that the exact same model, when it was available as new, cost between $400 and $499. This $550 transaction included a "trade-in" (a Honda mower).
At that point we assumed that we had been duped & cheated. But we must be wrong: apparently, we were not purchasing simply a used lawnmower, but rather an antique... We learned that rust must be to mowers what patina is to antiques. And who wouldn't pay extra for a piece of lawnmower history? Still, the antiques market is so unpredictable: when we tried to sell it back to Henry, he didn’t return our call...

Great local Amish owned small engine shop. They sell all kinds of power tools, lawn and garden machines, and general hardware items. And the best thing about the shop is that they service what they sell. (And they service other stuff too.) I purchased a generator about 10 years ago from the shop, and when it started to have issues this year, they picked it up, repaired it, and brought it back. Could you find items that are slightly lower in price at a big box store? Yes. Will you get the same quality? Maybe. Will you get people to stand behind the sale? At the small engine shop you will. Great place to work with, I highly recommend.

My partner and I wanted to purchase a used mower at a locally-owned business. Several locals gave us good reviews of Millheim Small Engine. So we borrowed a truck, went, and purchased a basic model riding mower. After only mowing our yard twice, all the oil leaked out. So we called and asked if they would fix it. They said yes, but wanted us to wait a month to return it (we understand it's busy season, but were hoping they would prioritize something they sold that malfunctioned). We waited and called after a month and they asked for another two weeks. We understood it was busy, but push-mowing our yard was hard work in the meantime (~2 hrs of mowing on a hill). A family member offered us their used mower (in return for us paying for repair costs), so we asked if we could return the mower instead, as it wasn't usable and we weren't sure all that was wrong with it. So after we finally took it back, and they offered $350 less than we purchased it for. While we understand they have an "as-is" policy, we essentially paid $350 to mow our yard twice and had the hassle of needing to return it and going back and forth for six weeks. They should have taken more ownership of selling us a mower that wasn't in good shape. Overall, it wasn't a good experience. This may be a good place for others if you don't have any issues down the road, but buyers beware, if something does have issues, you may wait a really long time for them to fix it and they will not refund you a fair price.

Amazing they have everything the big franchise hardware stores have but way more. Buildings full of old new and everything in between, really cool interesting stuff. Can not say enough about the family and their staff, super knowledgable and so friendly. Out of the way but so worth the trip, you will not be disappointed.
