Smedley Park, located in Delaware County, offers a unique blend of natural beauty and recreational opportunities. The park features miles of trails that meander through the woods, providing a serene escape despite the nearby highway sounds. Visitors can find easy trails near the playground on Papermill Road, while the more challenging Springfield Trail offers elevation changes and rugged terrain, ideal for hiking and mountain biking, though e-bikes are not allowed. Families can enjoy various amenities, including children's playgrounds, picnic tables, and well-maintained porta-potties. The park's open fields are perfect for pets and picnics, making it a popular spot for gatherings. While some areas could benefit from maintenance, such as the pavilion, most guests appreciate the park's overall cleanliness and the beautiful nature surrounding it. Smedley Park presents a surreal experience with its combination of natural trails and urban elements, including intriguing graffiti on freeway pillars. Visitors have noted the peaceful atmosphere, making it a lovely destination for walking, hiking, or simply enjoying a day outdoors, even with the sounds of the nearby highway.
I've walked the orange and yellow trails. Both have sufficient elevation changes. Make sure you wear good hiking shoes/ boots. PA TRAILS ARE MAD ROCKY!
