I went there because I heard they were the best but $430 later left with no answers. I went because my boy, Buddy was suffering from lameness. They did x-rays and said they saw no problem. I came home and started my own research and everything sort of pointed to lyme. Now wouldn't you think they would have suggested a lyme test while I was there. Now it looks like I will have to make another appointment to get a lyme test, but not there. I count on a doctor to come up with these ideas that's what I pay them for.

I am so upset with VCA Metzger Animal Hospital. They did not cremate my dog in the name I gave him. They offered no remedy to correct the error. They are all about money no compassion (front desk)! I had to call the Abby Glen Pet Memorial Services. I am distraught Amber, Ashley, and India no one could take the information and make situation correct. It was like playing whisper down the alley. Tossing me from one person to another. It only took 1 phone call with Abby Glen... I didn't have to keep repeating myself. This vet staff dishonored my fur kid Sir Champson Royale. I called before picking up ashes asking them to finalize bill and charge balance to credit card. The never did! When I arrived I was told finalize the bill and you can have the ashes. They treated him remains like he was a bottle of soda~! waiting for a cashier. I have trupanion insurance I am still waiting for finalized invoice. Unbelievable! No compassion and they don't care. If your dog is hospitalized expect to call for updates at front desk and not get them. When The vet decides to call pray your near your phone or you will miss the call and play phone tag. Overall this was a bad experience because of front desk staff. Can't say anything about the vet. Sir Champson Royale was ill. And his vet tech did take care of him. The front desk was not reasonable we live2 hours away in each direction. 4 hours round trip- when we call give us updates. This was a sad situation all together.

On 3/14/23 my husband called this facility for an emergent situation with out furbaby Scruffie. We called on the recommendation of a family friend. We live about 40 minutes away, and my husband spoke to a nice young woman on the phone who instructed him on what to do once we got there. The ride was long and emotional, our Scruffie was amid a seizure (No previous history of seizures or any other health issues) and peed on my lap, but no matter, we just wanted him better. When we finally arrived he started to come out of his seizure, he did a big cry and his jaw finally unlocked just as we walked through the door. An older gentleman met us as we walked in and held out his arms for scruffie as he asked "who do we have here" I started to explain everything and the woman who spoke to my husband came out and said no worries, she already got all the information on the phone, but did have a few more questions, which we went through. I went down the list of things we had been doing to keep his wounds clean and they were actually healing well, he was alert, eating, drinking, and going potty on his own until that evening, when he had the seizure. When we were done, I asked for th3 bathroom to clean up from scruffies accident. She kindly pointed me in the direction and said the Dr would be out after she assessed our boy. I figured it would be a little while so my husband and I started to brew a cup of coffee while we waited. I had just pressed the brew button when the Dr. Came out and asked if we were scruffies owners. We assured her we were his parents. She proceeded to tell us that she felt that Scruffie was not doing well, and she thought he may be septic and in a lot of pain. She then didn't skip a beat in mentioning that it would be the humane thing to do to provide him euthanasia services. I asked her if there was anything they could do to save him, she said they could "do what they could" maybe keep him there for 2-3 days and see if anything they did would help, but she made a point to rather sternly, let us know, he would be in pain the whole time. She was very matter of fact, but never really elaborated on what "life saving treatments " would be tried, or could be tried. She did hoeever let us know that 3 days at the hospital would be "thousands and thousands and Thousands of dollars, and they didnt take payments.... And somewhere in there, she tells us, she thought he might need surgery?! No explanation of why, and I was trying to wrap my head around all of it, nothing made sense. I had to ask her to give us some time to discuss what to do. Because running out of the house for an emergency, I certainly didn't have thousands of dollars on me. I stood there ugly crying, my husband holding me covered in scruffies pee, exasperated and she walks back out and asks "have we made a decision?" I told her I had questions. I wanted to know if she truly believed that all of her lifesaving procedures would help. She simply stated "No". And she told us his sugar was criticaly low. (Confused again, because he had been eating and drinking, and he wasnt diabetic) I then asked her, if she believed that euthanasia was the best option for him, and there was absolutely no way he could pull through. She said "I think euthanasia would be the humane thing to do. I told her I didn't want him to suffer. I couldn't stand the thought of him in pain until he died on his own. So I reluctantly made the decision, to lay our baby to rest. Before I could take a breath, she was up and saying she was going to get him comfortable and ready for us to "say our final goodbyes." The same man who greeted us comes out, he's smiling as he hands us a booklet of complimentary items included in the service. (Urns.) Ink Prints, clay prints, jewelry and other items that could be added on to the service for a price. Once I chose Scruffies urn, and print I handed it to the lady who came to see if we had finished yet (the whole ordeal felt very pushy) then the man comes back over

Charged almost double what they had quoted me. Didn't answer the phone and took 4 hours to call back. Not really forthcoming with what they were doing for my dog. Also when I asked to transfer my dog to another hospital, they never sent all of the information to the new vet. When I picked him up no doctor updated me on what they did for him during his stay. Just very poor communication overall. Honestly feels like they are more interested in making the most money possible, not in the best interest of their patients. Immediately ask you if you can pay over a thousand dollar bill before they even see the patient. They wanted to keep adding uneccesary tests and interventions just to keep my dog there for a longer period of time. Very disgraceful about the obvious money making way that they practice medicine. I was disappointed with the the care that my animal received. Would not recommend this hospital to anyone, you'd be better served going somewhere else.

The hospital seems to have several issues with their customer service and medical care: 1. the front desk staff's response to my request for an emergency appointment for my dog was not helpful or accommodating. They were not willing to assist and instead advised against coming to the emergency room, which was not comforting. 2. the lack of communication and follow-up with test results and doctor's advice is unacceptable. I had to repeatedly follow up for the results, and even then, the information was not complete. 3. the hospital's inability to accurately record and retrieve my information raises concerns about their data management processes. This could potentially impact my pet's medical treatment. 4. the argument with the receptionists and their suggestion to go to another hospital and hang up on us was unprofessional and showed a lack of concern for my pet's well-being. Overall, I would not recommend this hospital based on my experiences and the issues I have outlined.

I highly recommend this Animal Hospital, the people here are extremely sweet! I cannot thank all of you enough for the kindness you showed to me and my sister, and our very sick kitten. They explained all of our options throughly, and where so kind about all of it.

I cannot say enough about the amazing service provided by the emergency team. They recently worked on a sweet rescue kitten in bad shape. Immediately he was examined and worked on to reduce his pain and then provided the necessary surgery on his eyes. The veterinarian on staff called me three times with updates and when I called with questions ... the staff could not have been nicer to me. Very patient and understanding. I felt their genuine concern for their patient throughout the entire experience. The care that was provided was outstanding and the courteous and cheerful staff made the experience wonderful!

I can’t recommend them enough! At the beginning of January I noticed my dog was acting off. I thought it was a bug and let it go till the next day. I took him to my usual vet, on a Friday, and they thought maybe it was his pancreas and sent him home with some meds. Saturday morning he was still off and was peeing dark orange so I took him to the emergency vet because it was obvious he had a UTI and some blood in his urine. We spent 6ish hours at the vet where they found he had a mass on his spleen. We had a follow up appointment on Monday where we got more bad news that his heart wasn’t working right. A mass on the spleen is never good news and add a heart condition onto it and it’s basically a life sentence. I was preparing to say goodbye to my best guy. Thankfully, my extended family is related to Dr. Ervine and she said I needed a second opinion. Turns out his heart condition isn’t as bad as we thought (needs daily meds) and they told me he could make it through surgery, which I had previously been told he most likely wouldn’t. Dr. Koshko removed his spleen and rechecked his heart and he is doing well, so well in fact that you can’t even tell he had an organ removed. A few days later I got the call with his biopsy results and got the best news I could’ve gotten - the mass is benign! I can’t thank both Dr. Koshko and Dr. Ervine enough. They both explain things thoroughly, and by thoroughly I mean they aren’t using medical terminology that we wouldn’t understand, and they answer any and all questions you may have. They saved my dog’s life and I will forever be grateful to have gotten their second opinion.

Two of my dogs accidentally got accidentally hit. They were rushed to the animal hospital. Staff and Doctors took ellecent care of my dogs. They weren't like most places and worry just about money they cared about our dogs.I would definitely recommend this animal hospital to anyone.

A very poorly run Animal Hospital. Sick cat was screaming while having blood drawn. Very unprofessional
