Well, sad to say we had our last visit to Stroudsmoor. I grew up in the area and always enjoyed going there but this time was different. My family always enjoyed getting us a gift card each year at Stroudsmoor and usually after the holiday we make plans to go for a nice brunch.
We went for our reservation and as we were wrapping up near the end of our meal, we were full and since our brunch included dessert, we asked if we could simply take it with us to go. They had no problem at all and brought it out smashed up in this odd tinfoil looking wrapper. There were two separate tinfoil, smashed or mashed up pieces of cheesecake. Funny thing was, I looked at it and thought, well that is odd and kind of moved on. Next thing I know our waitress is complaining about how they will no longer allow them to place ‘to go’ items in regular food containers and she was making a stink and I simply agreed it was an odd way to handle it. Next thing I know she is calling the manager out saying that I was complaining until I finally stopped everyone and said – that my waitress was complaining and then the manager and waitress are both going back and forth about how ridiculous this policy is and how they will be in trouble if they do anything different. HOWEVER, this was not even the real issue….
Next, they bring our receipt back for the gift card and decided that they were simply keeping my remaining balance of my gift card. So they took me out to the front desk and I talked with the lady out front and she demanded that they ‘always’ do it this way and that it was my fault for not letting them know before our meal that I was using it so that they may have had the opportunity to let us know we may want to pay another way and not use our gift card!? To be clear, they explained to me that if for argument sake I had a $100.00 gift card and my meal was $50.00, that they literally would never give me anything back. They tried to convince me that this is ‘normal’ in the industry and that I didn’t understand.
I literally travel all over the world and never in my life have I had a restaurant that will not allow you to use the full value of the card. The kicker is as I had mentioned above that we have gotten and used gift cards many times over the years and they have ALWAYS in the past returned anything that was unused and they tried to argue with me that they would have never given my remaining amount back.
So long and short of it, this place that I grew up to love and enjoy as I felt it was up-scale dining is falling to pieces and now lost the business of myself and my entire family.
I believe it is worth noting that I directly asked them if they would make it right before I made my review and they told me they didn't care and envouraged me to male my review.

If you have a special or important occasion please do not count on the Stroudsmoor Inn. I made a reservation for 13 for my mother's 65th birthday. I was charged 50 dollars to hold my reservation. Imagine my surprise when my family was told we would have to be seated at two different tables. The reason I made a reservation and paid in advance was to sit together. The manager was condescending and would not admit they made a mistake. Only after we said we were planning to have a 50 th anniversary event there and they now lost our business did they miraculously say we can push tables together. Of course we left. I guess they missed the old adage, "The customer is always right." My mother was very upset as we all travelled for this celebration. We had to order pizza because we were unable to find a restaurant to seat 13 WHICH IS WHY I MADE A RESERVATION! Also they delete unfavorable reviews FYI.

Great music in a beautiful setting. Food was just average. Not what you expect from Stroudsmoor. Service was good. One huge negative... How can you have a venue that seats well over a 100 people and have one bathroom?. Not 1 mens and 1 ladies. 1 single shared toilet .

This is a great open air spot nestled in this large multi-venue place that specializes in weddings. It is open to the public only on Saturdays, however, I was told they are looking to rent it out as a venue itself for celebrations all days of the week so it may be closed for private gatherings even on Saturdays. 4 stars because there is no guarantee you can enjoy it as a bar/lounge unless you have a large party to rent it out.
