Today, I brought my Jeep Wrangler in for its annual inspection and mentioned that I needed a headlight adjustment since I recently installed new headlights. I didn’t ask about the cost beforehand—my mistake—but I was surprised when my total bill came to $229 for the inspection and adjustment.
After reviewing my receipt, I noticed the headlight adjustment alone was $136, which shocked me. From my understanding, this is typically a simple screw adjustment that could have been done quickly. I was in the shop for about 40 minutes total. After leaving, I had asked around from friends and other garages. Normally it’s around $25-$80 at most for this service..
I completely understand that I should have asked for pricing upfront, and that’s a lesson learned. However, I wanted to express my concern because the charge felt excessive for what seemed like a basic adjustment.
