Hours: Based on visitor reviews, Black Forest Trading Post & The Deer Park is a gift shop and deer feeding zoo located on PA Route 6 near Ulysses. The shop has been a favorite stop for travelers for over 60 years. It sells so much more than just souvenirs, offering all different types of camping supplies, ammunitions, knives, clothing, local gifts, imported Celtic gifts, Minnetonka moccasins, and locally sourced maple syrups and honey made the real way. The main reason many stop is to see and feed the deer, getting up close with them and petting them a little while feeding. The big male deer is super food motivated. The experience is a very positive one. The store owners are very friendly and pleasant. The property is well maintained and nicely decorated with large cuts of tree trunks, looking very reminiscent of a mystical grove. There is a sand pit for kids to play in and sift out their bags of hidden rocks. There are many well-fed and curious deer for kids to feed. The overall vibe is very good and somewhat mystical. With good behavior while following policies, visitors will have a great time. It is definitely worth the stop and the few bucks to feed them.
