Everyone at Camelot is so caring. They make you feel like you are friends. Dr. Shepard is the best, I have known him for 31 years. He has always taken the best care of my dogs and cats. He has a magic touch!

I am so sad to write this review! I love Dr. Sheppard. He has always been so incredibly kind and great to all of our family companions. He has always seen us whenever we need him quickly. His calm demeanor ensures our dogs feel comfortable to be seen. 3 months ago I brought my girl in for a visit to address her chronic skin condition. When we fostered then adopted her she was on daily medication to treat this. Dr. Sheppard does not prescribe this medication and at the visit we did discuss his reasons why and I understood them. We tried something else that ultimately did nothing. He said to call back if no relief. The receptionist was very rude and quick to get me off the phone. She called me back and said Dr Sheppard would want to see my girl again. I did not schedule because I wanted to think things over since he doesn't like the meds I know she needs. A couple weeks go by and I call back asking to leave a message with the Dr. Asking if he doesn't recommend her meds what is his course of treatment for a dog that requires daily medication for a chronic skin condition. She never called me back. I called back again and once again rude, arguing with me, interrupting me. During a stressful and difficult time she shows no compassion. I hung up in tears and feeling so unheard, not cared for, and overall discarded. A simple "let's see if we can't get you connected with Dr on the phone, where can we reach you, we'll figure this out together" would have gone a long way. Her only option was bring in and pay another exam fee to ask questions about the exact same thing I was seen for without results. I'm very saddened that I will not be able to see our Dr anymore because of a receptionist that treats and talks to you like your a bother to her and stupid. I'd love to resolve this with Dr. Sheppard if anyone from his office sees this and cares.

Kelly was extremely rude to me after I called about my dog Dino. She said it took me two weeks to call back. Yes it did, but I had already talked to the Kanawha Animal Association about my dog being picked up and taken across state lines. The contact information of the people who had her never returned my calls so I reached out to Camelot to see if they knew anything. Yes Kelly I know how to take care of dogs. For your information I have a couple.

The absolute best VET in this area

I never got in, this is purely a review on the reception part, I just called them about 20 minutes ago because I was trying to find a vet that takes in pocket pets (rodents) for my sick pet rat (I found a vet clinic that happily will help!) When the women answered she was very passive aggressive, treating it as a waste of time, she did not try to help or speak to me at all before I even asked the questions. I asked if they took rats, it was a harsh no. So I tried to ask if they knew if there were any other clinics that do take rats or other smaller animals. She replied with a harsh no again and proceeded to rudley ask if there was anything else. As someone who's never had to make an appointment because my pets have always been healthy (and I'm a young adult, diagnosed with severe anxiety disorder) it had made me feel I was doing something wrong and that I was wasting time (I'm just trying to get my boy the help he desperately needs, he's really sick.) So I ended it and almost cried. How can you consider yourself an exotic pets clinic but not take one of the most common pets around here? I'm sure the doctor himself is amazing and that's why I called. I want nothing but the best for my little man to make sure he's okay. But the receptionist wouldn't even give me the chance. I found a veterinary clinic that doesn't specialize in pocket pets but was still willing to take him and see what's going on. This is ridiculous that you guys can take all these huge and exotic animals but not a pet a bit bigger than your hand!
