Love the canal trails and park but the failure to post up coming closures, post time frame for closures, posting routes around closures or providing a bypass for long duration projects is not acceptable. Try and plan a long ride on this national treasure with the list of closures , no time frame, no bypass, and poor communication by the park management. Good luck with the weather and trail closures if you are trying to plan a ride.

I'd give five stars, but you don't have to drain the whole canal to mitigate flooding. The canal has fish living in it... when you drain it, they die. The epitome of laziness.

While this park is beautiful, I’ve had several bad experiences with the staff here. My experiences involve park ranger Anastasia and manager Matthew. I have a son on the spectrum. He loves nature and I thought this would be a great experience for him. I was wrong. Do not come here if you are looking for staff that care about their visitors.

Great for running and biking. Might as well do all 141 miles :-)

Great trail, well maintained for the most part. Unfortunately a bridge out at Lumberville has no signs posted for detour at closest trail access points

The tow path is in good shape except for a massive break. See photo

Riding our bikes on the path and seeing the locks was great. Please keep up the good work on them. Don't let them deteriorate. We love history.

A wonderful place for a walk. If you walk in either direction.

If you're industrious enough to hike or bike the entire Delaware Canal State Park, it's a good idea to look into where it starts in Bristol. The confusion stems from the town gradually filling in the end of the canal after it closed in 1931.To help out, I've posted several pictures. First is a picture of where the canal originally split off from Otter Creek. It goes a short distance and then is filled in. If you want to start from this point, you'll start at the circle pattern in the Bristol Lions Park.As you go, this trail will also be called the Bristol-Spurline. Be careful, though. To stay on the canal trail, you have jog west at some point. This can get confusing if you look on Google Maps, as Google shows water down to Beaver St. Actually, the water doesn't start again until Washington St., but the trail by itself picks up at Beaver St. If you started from Lions Park, you must go west one and a half blocks to stay on the Delaware Canal Trail which splits from the Spurline. However, parking is slim here, so most people go to the parking lot off Jefferson Ave. From that point, the trail becomes much more obvious. Starting from this location, you'll see the gazabo and water feature in the Delaware Lagoon Park. The canal trail is approximately 60 miles from Bristol to Easton. If biking, it's easier to go from Easton south as it's slightly downhill in that direction. Many people combine a trip on the trail with a visit to New Hope. For events at this park visit: events dcnr paFor more information: pa parks and forests.(diamond)

This a neat place to stop and check out. There is a neat lock here that is in fairly good condition. It is also a nice place to go for a walk. The bugs can get a bit crazy on damp and humid days, in pa that can be quite often.

It's a nice trail to walk on.. I mainly went to see fall colors. Some spots were very pretty so got some nice pictures of the fall foliage. Otherwise this is a good place to walk or run. The canal is not that deep, and the area surrounding are clean and well maintained.

Nice and flat crushed gravel trail, great for running, hiking, and biking! Family and pet friendly! This video gives a good idea of what to expect on the section from Riegelsville, PA to Upper Black Eddy, PA:
