UPMC Washington's Emergency Department, also known as the E. Ronald and Constante Salvitti Emergency Care Center, is one of the busiest emergency departments in southwestern Pennsylvania. They provide emergency medical care 24 hours a day, seven days a week to more than 52,000 patients each year. The department is staffed by board-certified physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners, with a full complement of on-call specialists. It also serves as a base for STAT MedEvac (helicopter) to provide rapid transport for traumas and critically ill patients, when necessary, and has a dedicated team for the diagnosis and treatment of stroke and heart attacks, as well as stroke and pediatric telemedicine services.
