My husband and I have a small collection of antiques, and like to explore new towns in PA. Walked into Antiquities Inc. and—in an attempt to make conversation!—mentioned an antiques consignment shop my husband had visited a few months ago. Big mistake, apparently: the man behind the counter treated us like we’d tracked dirt all over the store the rest of the time we were in the shop, and had a strange, stilted attitude, seeming to think that we expected consignment prices or to haggle or something (we didn’t). I can tell the inventory was certainly chosen with care, and there were some beautiful pieces, but I felt kind of weird spending money at a place that clearly thought we were a waste of time.

I wouldn’t call this an antique store, at least not by the common expectation of a barn full of dusty junk with a few gems: this is a highly curated collection of fine British antique decorative works. There were plenty of paintings and metal statuettes for hundreds or thousands of dollars—no folk art or salvaged window shades. I was looking for a more standard antique store so this wasn’t my speed, but it seemed like a good collection.

Small store with high quality antiques,.generally English, and very knowledgeable staff. If they don't have it, they will search for you and find it.
