I have never been to a Banfield before but I have recently been given a 7 month old Cane Corso puppy whose previous owner had bought her an insurance program through their Wexford location. With that being said she had a problem and I took her in to have her checked out. I have another rescue dog that I take to a vet that I have used for years. The Banfield experience is definitely different from all the other vets offices I have ever been to. I have read a bunch of reviews about up-selling and other things, which yes I guess you could say they did ask a lot of questions when I got there for her intake. Like did I want her nails clipped and her anal glands done as well as things like was she shaking her head a lot and has she been coughing any. All of this I said no to and we went on with the reason I brought her there for. Now I see how people could take this as up selling however there were questions that I could have answered yes to with my other rescue dog and that gave me a reason to pause and ask myself why they were asking these questions. I believe that when you get in and start talking to the vet you do forget about the small stuff like nail trims and the head shaking was something I needed to address with my other vet who never asked me these questions. All in all they fixed my new girl right up and yes you can look at these things at up selling if you want to or you can realize that they are just trying to give your animals the best care they can in a different approach. You don't have to get the services done and just say no to them like I did. If your animal doesn't need it then don't get it done but be happy that the vet tech is asking these questions because it's for a reason. I am thankful for them fixing my girl up and for asking the questions because I would have not known to get my other guy checked out. Not everyone does things the same way and Banfield's way is different and can be a little intimidating the first time you go there if you're used to an old fashioned vets office like I was. Give them a chance and you just might see that they are just as good as the other vets out there and their way has its upside as well. I feel like their way is really good for new owners or people like me who haven't had dogs in over a decade.

Great visit. The doctor was able to help my sweet girl get some relief from a nasty UTI. I felt like she was in really good hands here.

I typically don’t leave many reviews for things but I have to say this Banfield and their staff need some applause / kudos. I have 3 dogs and have been to a number of vets over the years. I moved to this area about two years ago and selected this Banfield Wexford location since it was close to the house. This team of individuals seems to work so well together. Everyone has been super friendly and accommodating (even in the super early morning or a late end of the day appointment). They communicate well and even follow up consistently to check up on your animal to see how they are doing. Your pet’s name is up on the wall when you get there and they let you know all of the staff that will be caring for your pet that day. I don’t know, it just feels like the service industry is lacking in friendly / welcoming service and it’s very refreshing to work with a group that tries and succeeds at it.Thanks for your friendly service!

Had my cat for an entire day made me wait 7 hours for him for an exam. Utterly ridiculous. Will never come back to this or any other Banfield

I had to get a medical certificate for our pup to fly on an international flight and Banfield Pet Hospital was the only vet in the north hills approved by the USDA that was friendly and accommodating to us (many others turned us away). Our fido had a great experience and the staff was so helpful and professional with all the required paperwork.

One word: useless. They operate solely as a business and fail in sympathy and regard for a pets health. My puppy had to be taken to the ER and we found out she had a failing kidney. I proceeded to call banfield after the ER visit and couldn’t even get a call back from the vet about next steps and about her immediate health from the ER vet medical report. Essentially, I felt like my pet was “just a dog” to them. We will be going elsewhere and I strongly suggest all of you do the same.

Have been coming to Banfield’s for years and was happy when they opened the Wexford location. We always have a positive experience! Kensi is a phenomenal person, she always greets Toby with her super calming nature. You can tell she really loves animals! Glad they hire such wonderful people!

As a new customer, the initial health check for our 3 month old kittens was full of upselling attempts. I provided the kittens' health records showing multiple vaccines and deworming treatments were already completed. I was told that since Banfield can't verify the shots were stored at proper temperature that we should re-do all 7 vaccines/deworming - no thank you! I have no reason to doubt the vet who gave the initial treatments and it's dangerous to double-dose a 3 pound animal, not to mention the extra cost. Hard pass. I mentioned 1 kitten had a bit of diarrhea, and they wanted to take fecal samples to send out to a lab. How about trying probiotics first or changing their diet, or maybe they're just stressed from entering a brand new home 2 days ago? Seemed extreme to order lab work at this stage. I was pushed to sign up for new kitten treatment plans, even though my kittens were already spayed and had already received multiple vaccines and deworming treatments. All of these upsell attempts occurred within the first 5 minutes of our appointment with the vet tech! While the tech was very nice, I was really shocked at such a pushy sales pitch for things we clearly didn't need. My trust was gone and I was irritated. When we saw the vet a few minutes later, she noted a faint heart murmur in one of the kittens, however I immediately doubted her thinking this could be another upsell attempt to order unnecessary testing. I have no trust in this establishment... We will be seeking second opinions on the heart murmur.

If I could give this place 1000 stars I would. A couple weeks ago, our 23-year old cat Dusty suddenly became gravely ill. She was, by all means, part of our family. After calling nearly EVERY veterinarian in northern allegheny (and beyond) to request an emergency visit, Banfield didn't hesitate to get us in immediately and run some tests on our furry best friend.Sadly, the tests showed some unfortunate news and we had to say goodbye to Dusty less than two days later. We couldn't have been more pleased with the empathy, attention, and thoroughness demonstrated by this entire staff. It was as if they knew Dusty for years. They were there to answer every question. They even made the cremation process easy and affordable. What awe'd us the most was a few days after picking up Dusty's remains, we got a handwritten card in the mail signed by all of the staff. We will literally never forget this kindness, and already plan to bring our other pet here for checkups in the future.
