Our room was clean and the staff was friendly. We did get a good night sleep, however our room door lock was broken and we had to get staff to asst us to get in our room, the breakfast was horrible, doughy biscuits, pancake machine broken, eggs was overcooked and coffee was very weak. My husband and I went out for breakfast, we were not expecting to pay for an outside breakfast .

I would say this is the best hotel I’ve been at in York. Their guest service was excellent! I usually don’t eat breakfast food besides homemade. I was super hungry this day and I would say this is the best breakfast I’ve had in a while. Breakfast cook Jeezus went above and cleaned off every table after each guest left. Overall great breakfast experience. Housekeeping supervisor Yessenia went above and beyond to make sure my room was clean and I had everything I needed. Heather made sure everything was organized and I had a great stay!

Rooms are dated. Water doesn’t get hot, AC is not working properly, and the mattress for the sofa bed is old raggedy dented very uncomfortable. None of the beds have duvet covers. Would not stay here again. We are in a 2 bed queen suite. The staff is nice. Would not stay here again. Do not recommend. Paid too much money to not be compensated at all.

I am staying in this hotel. I have no hot water and a moldy bathroom sink bowl. I tried to report this on my way out this morning but there was no one at front desk. During the day after calling multiple numbers, I finally reached the hotel front desk. I told the person that my sink was moldy and needed to be cleaned and no hot water. She said when you come back tell someone. I asked to have the sink cleaned and hot water checked. She told me maintenance didn’t come in today. When I got back to the hotel several hours later the sink wasn’t cleaned. If at all possible, avoid this old, ill maintained hotel when in York.

I have had to stay at a lot of hotels because of work. This was one of the nicest. The staff really deserve more than five stars. The room was comfy, the water pressure was unbelievable and breakfast was more than substantial. I would quickly stay here again.

Definitely a 0/5 stars. I made reservations for 3 rooms back in January for this June. Arrived at shady maple for lunch then Went to check the hotel address in my IGH app and there were no reservations listed. I called the hotel to see what happened and they stated my three rooms were canceled because my credit card was declined. I called my credit card company and was told there were no charges on my credit card declined specifically, from holiday inn. I guess the hotel overbooked and they needed an excuse why my three rooms weren’t available. If you’re looking for a hotel that will have your Rooms available I DO NOT recommend this one.

Staff was friendly. Good location in a quiet area. Room was not as updated as some other Holiday Inn Express locations I’ve been to, but I still had a pleasant stay.

It is disgusting how this hotel went downhill over the past few years. When it was new it was great. Nice staff, well maintained facility, clean rooms and a good quiet location for us. Over the last 4 years it has turned into one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. Rude and incompetent staff that do not care one bit. Dirty rooms with bugs (be sure to check out the other 1 star reviews). The hot water issue everyone is complaining about in the negative reviews has been a problem for the last 4 years. Always an excuse as to why it happens and a promise it will be fixed for the next stay but the problem has yet to be addressed. I found out that this location is independently owned. Sounds like the owner is cheap and does not care. I was told the hot water system is complex and expensive to replace. Maybe so but this is a major part of this business and you need to make provisions. If you are too cheap to properly fix the hot water system in 4 years I feel you do not deserve my money anymore. Everyone reading this should ask themselves the same question! I called Holliday Inn customer service and they said there is nothing they can do since it is independently owned other than give me a few points.. Big deal. If Holliday Inn was smart they would pull this location from the owner and sell it to someone with some ethical business standards. It's a shame because the location is perfect for us when we stay. I visit the area in April and October every year for the York TCA Train show and we hit up other things in the area at the same time. I booked at another hotel this time. It costs more money and less desirable location but I got to do what I got to do...

I just spent three days in this hotel. It was not my first choice. Everything else was booked due to some sort of teenage volleyball tournament and some other sporting events going on.Here are my issues:1) The website says daily cleaning that is wrong and outdated. My room was not cleaned the second day. You have to request service which they forgot to tell me when I checked in strike one.2) in the afternoon I requested my room to be cleaned and new towels brought in. I returned at 9 o’clock at night. It was still not done strike two.3) The third day my key no longer worked in the door. They decided it was only going to work for two days even though I paid for three days so I had to go get that reset at the front desk.4) there are no safety bars in the shower. I am 68 years old with bad knees. It would’ve been nice to have grab bars in the shower like just about every other hotel has but this Holiday Inn Express is in serious need of a remodeling, everything is outdated.5) although the heating system did function, it was extremely cold Saturday night, and every time the window unit came on it blew cold air for almost 10 minutes before it finally warmed up. The room temperature fluctuated greatly strike three6) The full breakfast was very good. All three days I was there.7) The staff was helpful, but they are very short of people when the rooms finally did get cleaning it wasn’t until late in the day that they were finally done and on that second day I would’ve never got clean towels if I hadn’t run into one of the cleaning supervisors in the elevator but she helped me right awayThe bottom line is, I will not be going back to the Holiday Inn in York Pennsylvania

Something is really wrong with this place this is the entrance today

Be extremely careful driving in. The owner probably paid the least possible to get the entrance and lot poorly snow plowed. It has not been iced. Your car will slip and slide coming in and you cannot see the curbs. Getting out of the car? Be extremely careful- ice everywhere. Amazing.

Summary:This hotel is poorly managed. Employee morale is low, and a "pass the buck" attitude dominates. Very little is spent on maintenance. Customer service when problems occur is non-existent.Review:My family of five stayed in a suite (2 queen beds plus sofa bed) from 1/29 to 1/1.During our visit, the hotel lost water for approximately 18 hours, from the morning to the evening of 1/30. Not hot water, *all* water. According to the front desk, this was the second time water was lost within a week, the first time being prior to our stay.As a family of five, we were forced to shower at my parent's small home. They are in their 80s, and it was inconvenient for them. Ultimately, we filled a carboy with water so that we could flush the toilet when we returned to the hotel. When we asked about a refund, the front desk seemed to think this was our fault. "Why didn't you go somewhere else or check out?" We were visiting family, and all the other hotels nearby were full. On New Year's Eve, there was no other hotel option. So far, we have not received a refund, even for the affected night.Upon checkout, we were informed that the manager was on-site but could not meet with us because she had to "get herself together." Further attempts to receive compensation have been unsuccessful. Overall, customer service is substandard, and we’ve been treated poorly. This hotel is not well maintained. The wallpaper and tiling in our room were left unrepaired. Instead of a hairdryer, we had an unfinished metal panel where it used to hang. The workout facility hasn't been updated in years. The hallways are splotchy from mismatched paint patches. When my family arrived, there were no clean towels, even though the hotel knew there were five of us. We had to wait until morning (the water did work on the first night of our stay).Based on this, I imagine the cheapest plumber possible was hired, as the job wasn't done correctly the first time. This would explain why they lost water twice.I recommend avoiding this property.
