Wood Islands Lighthouse

Hours: Wood Islands Lighthouse is a lovely and beautiful spot with an incredible view and charming atmosphere, enhanced by nearby colorful and well-kept houses. Visitors can go inside the lighthouse for a guided tour, which is interesting and full of history and stories, typically lasting about fifteen minutes. After the tour, guests are welcome to explore on their own. The staff and tour guides are amazing, super friendly, helpful, and incredibly knowledgeable. The site features a gift shop with lots of cute little souvenirs and reasonably priced local artisan crafts. It is also fun to see the inner workings of the original lighthouse inside the shop. A restaurant in the gift shop serves delectable gingerbread with lemon sauce and ice cream, with excellent friendly service. Bathrooms are on site. The ferry is right next door, making it a great spot to visit while waiting. However, it can get very crowded with many tours visiting at once, which can take away from the experience and fill pictures with people. The rocks around the lighthouse can be deceptively wet and slick, requiring caution. Some pathways include smooth slanting rock sections, which are navigable with good walking shoes when dry. Overall, it is a quaint tourist site worth the drive.
