I’ve been to plenty of cigar shops throughout Quebec, Ontario and the U.S., and Bob has built one of the most impressive selections I’ve come across, especially for a shop that isn’t marketed primarily as a tobacconist.
Just from brands I’ve personally bought or know he carries, you’ll find Alec Bradley, Rocky Patel, Jake Wyatt, Gurkha, Macanudo, Don Tomas, Casa Magna, CAO, Drew Estate, My Father, Oliva, Punch, Psyko Seven, along with a substantial selection of Cuban cigars and higher-end sticks.
And that list barely scratches the surface. There are tons of other brands, blends and vitolas in the humidors that I couldn’t possibly list from memory. Half the fun is going in and seeing what Bob has, and there’s something for just about every price point.
More importantly, the cigars are properly cared for. The humidors are consistently well maintained, and everything I’ve bought here has been in excellent condition. Anyone serious about cigars knows a huge inventory means nothing if it isn’t stored properly.
Then there’s Bob himself. He’s a genuinely good guy who gets to know his customers and truly appreciates the people who keep coming back. There’s an old-school relationship between Bob and his regulars that you don’t find everywhere anymore.
Variety Hudson itself is exactly what the name suggests… a little bit of everything, including plenty of things that are surprisingly hard to find elsewhere. But for me, the cigar selection is what makes this place a destination.
If you’re into cigars, this isn’t just somewhere to stop if you happen to be in Hudson, it’s worth making a point of visiting. Whether you’re coming through Hudson, Rigaud, Vaudreuil-Soulanges or travelling between Montreal and Ontario, give yourself some time to actually look through the selection. There’s a lot more in those humidors than I could ever list from memory, and discovering what’s there is part of the fun.
