Besides having a wide selection range, this store is a ghost town and very expensive.
Not a single time has someone asked if i needed anything or provided service. It depends on your background from the looks of it.
Everything i looked for was ultimately bought somewhere else. I wonder Where's the need to have this store around.

Word of caution: this store does not honour the rock solid guarantee. They claim a 2 year time limit. Another MEC store accepted the return on the same item.

I have been going to this store for over 25 years. I bought a gore tex a few years ago and the ties around the wrists and the sealant around the neck came loose. Normally they would have done the repair, but I was told they were no longer a co-op and the rules were stricter, I was received in a cavalier manner and the only choice I was given was to buy some glue and stick it all together. By the way, my husband bought an Arcteryx gore tex the same year as me and his is still impeccable. If you think you will have the same service as the Dude of old, you will be disappointed. Often disappointing experience.
We're going back because of the selection. (often too expensive but interesting)
Many of the floor employees are rude, condescending, unavailable and uninterested in customer service.
And I'm not even talking about cashiers.
I will space out my visits.

I have been dealing with the MEC bike shop for 3 years now for punctures and tune-ups and I am really satisfied with the service. It's worth mentioning. The employees are friendly and honest. The work is done well and quickly. It's definitely cheaper than at my local bike shop...

Rarely had such miserable service at the Marché Central store. I needed advice on hiking shoes and the advisor clearly left me alone, he brought me 3 boxes of shoes not my size and he never came back to see me to ask me if I was okay and if I needed other things. A gang of 5 advisors who laughed together instead of coming to check on clients. I myself had to go find advisors for my boyfriend on several occasions who had been waiting on a bench for minutes to get a shoe size. Being very sensitive to customer service, I left without any purchase given my experience. It's too bad.

Will not honor warranty. Tent pole broke and they will not even replace the pole, despite the salesperson confirming there was a supposed “lifetime warranty”.

I've been a customer there since it opened, they have a wide selection of bags for all kinds of adventures in urban and wooded environments! But also lots of equipment and clothing! I love coming to see what’s new in the outdoors!!
I've read comments from "frustrated" people...you know when you use outdoor gear, after a few years it's normal to have some wear and tear...and if you don't take care of your gear , it's also normal to sometimes have breakages... it's 2024... after 2-3-4-5-6+ years... are you thinking of returning your things to get refunds? It’s not the store or manufacturer’s fault… wake up and use your equipment the right way and “store” it the right way!

Excellent after-sales service. I bought a Hélinox chair which broke after three years of use (although we had taken great care of it). We were no longer under warranty (we would have had to contact the company directly), but they took the time to repair it with a part they had on hand from another chair that had been returned. It's like new! <3

Your employee Thomas was so nice and helpful! Without him i don’t think I would be able to choose the right shoes and clothing. He deserves a raise!
