Avoid. The guy who has worked there for over a decade actually asked me to return to the store tomorrow to process a return for a $19.99 can opener.Update:I was willing to let this go but then I had friends tell me they had similar experiences and noted that the guy who “couldn’t process the return” had worked there for 20+ years.I also saw a detailed 1 star review where gave someone the same line of lies about returns that I receivedThis seems to be a known pattern with this hardware store.

The staff are kind, attentive and extremely knowledgeable. The other day I brought in a lamp of mine that was broken and they fixed it right there in under five minutes.

I have been doing business' with the Monkland hardware store for over thirty years. I did not mind paying a premium in order to save time and to support my local hardware store. However, in this digital age, this store is definitely a blow back to the eighties where they require a store bought bill to be presented or NO REFUND, not even a store credit. Producing a credit card receipt is not acceptable. I did not take a receipt because frankly in today's digital, ease of access to information economy who does? The store refused me a small refund because I had no store bought receipt. They pointed to all their signs that expressly stated this. Yes, I did a mistake in not keeping the receipt, but I still was a loyal customer. Nevertheless, policy arising from a truly archaic manual system, outweighs customer satisfaction and I am no longer a loyal customer.Hopefully they will learn from this and invest in some system that provides flexibility in order to satisfy customers.

Wonderful local store with a surprising amount of selection, the staff are really nice and super helpful, next time you’re thinking of going to one of the big hardware stores come here instead it’s conveniently located and a great shopping experience

Everyone needs a good local hardware shop when the bix stores are overkill. Have repeatedly gotten me out of jams.

Rude, unprofessional, and misogynistic staff. Went there with my girlfriend to pick up a pipe for a toilet. The guy who was working at the store refused to sell my girlfriend the pipe and treated her incredibly rudely. He kept saying that it was only for a dishwasher and not a toilet. He only tried talking to me and ignored my girlfriend. He also acted like my girlfriend had no idea what she was talking whenever she spoke to him. He just rudely dismissed anything she said even though she explained to him numerous times why we need this pipe. She had done her research and knew that this was exactly what we needed, but he refused to sell us the pipe just because he thought that he knew better than my girlfriend. We had to walk 40 minutes to another store just to buy the exact same pipe. It has worked perfectly fine for over two years now with no issues. Thanks for wasting our time dude, don't act like you always know better than other people because you clearly don't. Do not shop here.

Surprising how much a small storefront can offer. Lots of kitchenware, gardening, and paint supplies. Most of what you need for any DIY plumbing repair or project. Season outdoor goods like snow shovels or bar-b-que supplies are readily available. You may pay a small premium for your goods relative to big box stores, but it is well merited value add to have a complete tool shed within walking distance whenever you need something right away 7 days a week.

I was so desperate to find an adapter for my Canon camera charger and the 2 bigger hardwares I've been to really disappointed me as they don't have it. But this store has it! I am so happy! Ricky was also very helpful and kind. I rarely write reviews but I just have to for this store. Definitely recommend and will come back if I need anything else in the future.

Hello it’s a nice store well organized there are two men working there who are dedicated and take pride in order to satisfy customers needs. The only thing to be aware of that prices could be a little higher then at a regular larger Rona warehouse or Reno depot other than it’s a fun vibrant place to buy your essentials if you live in the monkland village area, thank you

They don't know what a male to female adapter isI am updating this review because I was so mad I wrote it as simple as possible. I was refused sale in this store because I was a woman who wanted to buy stuff to do some plumbing and they did not believe I could. BTW it still is not leaking. I had to go somewhere else because they wouldn't even sell it to me. (he kept turning away from me when i was explaining what part i needed to ask my partner who kept telling him he didn't know and to ask me.)

Typical NDG small store. Limited inventory, overpriced items, unfriendly staff. This is for when you need an item immediately, you happen to be nearby, and you're just too lazy to go to a real hardware store. Just go in, find your stuff yourself, pay, don't say thank you (they don't care), leave as fast as you came in. While you're looking for your stuff, expect the guy to watch you like a hawk. And no, it's not because he wants to help you.

Lovely staff! Every time we go for something impromptu, we can always count on the owner to give us a helping hand and some great advice. We definitely plan on going back for paint for our baby’s room next year. Highly recommend!

Frustrating and insulting customer service.I called in advance about a product I bought the day before, which was still in packaging and unused, and I was told on the phone that it could be returned. After travelling there, I was immediately stopped at the door and questioned about me walking in with a product, which I was told I "Couldn't return in how it is, you didn't get it like that". It was then I went to the register and was told that "They don't do refunds and returns". When I mentioned I was told to on the phone you could, so long as you had the product and the receipt, they pointed at one of their employees outside and told them it was probably them and it's their fault, they're "inexperienced". That was pretty frustrating to hear that they couldn't just admit a mistake as a store, and instead had to throw someone under the bus to stack the blame on. Afterwards, I talked with the cashier and asked if I could just maybe trade it for some other items, which they agreed to. Once I went into the aisles to look at what I could possibly get, as it was sort of unexpected, they went and followed me to survey me. Note that the only thing I was carrying was the product I meant to return, and no bag, so they had 0 suspicion to think I was stealing, and I found it really uncomfortable that I was followed. After I picked a few items that added to near and less the price of the original purchase, I was told no, I can't return or do trades. This place will constantly change the story to their advantage. It's extremely frustrating that it went from Return->Can't Return in Condition->We Don't do returns -> You can trade -> Actually you can't trade. It's like they don't really have a policy and just make things up to whatever they please. So much for trying to support a local small business, just for this kind of treatment. I'm not surprised they have a sign saying they are hiring, if this is how they treat customers, changing stories and making them waste their time showing up, it makes me wonder how they treat some of their employees.
