This is one of Marriott group's "Design" hotels. Our room was stylishly modern and bright, but the workmanship of the renovation was very poor. Paint was rough and crude, wardrobe doors wouldn't close, ceiling access hatch was drooping and had a large gap, cable grommets were falling off. A fire escape walkway was our view and our windows directly faced another room across from us.

If you would like to stay at a hotel that does not take responsibility or provide any sort of customer service, this would be the right hotel for you.
Do not park your car with their valet, they parked my car, damaged the front of my car, spent an hour running around and hiding because they did not know what to do and lied about the damage on my vehicle. I was staying on business and missed an important meeting with a client due to their negligence. When asked about the video footage they claimed it was unclear. My car is a red SUV - not difficult to see. While waiting for my vehicle, all staff disappeared from the lobby, I called twice while sitting in their lobby to see if anyone would help me but no one answered. An hour later when they finally gave me the car, they said there is no manager on site to speak and complain to. They told me they had lost the key to the other car that blocked my car in. Then they told me, there were many cars and it took a while to get my car out. Always different stories/lies. Bottom line - they will not take responsibility for the damage done to my vehicle and told me to deal with my insurance. Honestly, the worst hotel experience.
Booker beware.

The room I stayed in was exceptional. The bed and view were to die for. But the highlight was the breakfast. A young dark-haired lady with glasses who served me, was very pleasant, very smiling and made my stay unforgettable. Thanks to her and all the hotel employees.

Had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at The Saint Paul Hotel during a recent winter holiday visit. Its downtown location was ideal, and the hotel has done a wonderful job maintaining and honoring the history of this famous century-old establishment. The atmosphere retains a touch of old-school elegance, while the rooms have been updated to be cozy and comfortable with high-end amenities. The restaurants are superb, and the 12th floor fitness center is among the best I've experienced. In fact, the best views of the city are from the 12th floor. I highly recommend The Saint Paul Hotel and look forward to my next trip to the Twin Cities.

I had an excellent stay in this hotel which for me is one of the most beautiful in all of Montreal. My room was beautiful and the view was breathtaking. I spent two fantastic nights, I have never slept so well in a hotel.
As for the service, it was really good, all the staff were available and very helpful.
The breakfast was delicious, it was the best breakfast I have eaten in a hotel. I recommend the chef’s cheese omelette, it’s delicious.
I highly recommend the St Paul hotel and I can't wait to return.
Food and drinks: The breakfast is definitely worth it, I think it was the icing on the cake of my stay, there were so many options that I didn't know where to turn. The buffet is very well stocked, including platters of charcuterie and cheese, a wide choice of pastries, the cakes were always different, I really appreciated the perfect mango and apple cinnamon flavors. I loved the omelettes, salmon bagels and quiches. Having an excellent breakfast with this view every morning is the dream.

Simply fantastic. Lovely rooms, excellent service, friendly staff, and super walkable location. I enjoyed my stay there so much. I walked nearly everywhere I wanted to go, and St. Paul St is a wonderful stretch of shops and restaurants.

Very quaint boutique style hotel, very well located, just steps away from Gibby’s and the rest of Old Montreal, or the main downtown area is just 10-15 minutes in the opposite direction.
Very friendly staff. The room was not ready when we arrived at check at 3pm and had to wait 45 minutes, but the upgrade we received was appreciated and well worth the wait.
Rooms are well appointed and cozy. The lobby is very small, typical for these types of hotel, but very nice, elegant feeling with a gorgeous Japanese restaurant which has a delicious looking menu, but unfortunately did not get to try it.
Highly recommend this hotel.

This is a very dated hotel, very dark and not very clean. I think they keep it dark so you can't see all the dirt and imperfections. They could really use a fresh coat of paint and deep cleaning. My room was filthy, there was dust everywhere, and unfortunately I'm allergic to dust and I've been itching the whole time. The bed is very noisy. The bathroom vent is loud. This must be some kind of party hotel because the floors and furniture are so worn and damaged. There were hairs all over my shower, it was gross. The parking is valet only and is not in and out as they stated, it closes at 11:00pm. The restaurant downstairs is more of a nightclub than a restaurant. I find it hard to believe someone would call this luxury. The staff were all very nice and the location is great. But that's about it. Not worth the price.
Rooms: Rooms are spacious, but very dated, furniture is so worn and looks terrible. The floors are awful, rugs are disgusting and they definitely need a fresh coat of paint. The bed is very squeaky, bathroom fan makes loud noises. It's not modern at all and needs a lot of TLC.
Walkability: Walkable to all areas of Old Montreal except there is major construction on St. Paul right now and between the narrow sidewalks, and many tourists, it makes it difficult to walk.
Noteworthy details: If you're traveling with a pet there is a great little park around the corner. They only have valet parking and if you try to park after 11:00pm on your own you'll have to go to the hotel, they'll have to unlock it and park it for you. I personally prefer to self park.

I recently stayed at Hotel St-Paul in Montreal and was blown away by the exceptional quality of service. The staff were consistently respectful, professional, and went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable. Their attention to detail truly made a difference. The hotel’s location in the heart of Old Montreal is unbeatable—within walking distance to all the historic sites, charming streets, and amazing restaurants. If you're looking for a stay that combines impeccable service with a prime location, Hotel St-Paul is the perfect choice!

This is a nice hotel with a great location but they are not equipped to handle a large group for a business meeting.

A gem in Old Port. Great vibe with chic appeal.
Beautiful rooms have recently been updated. Not inexpensive but it is in prime real estate in the best walking neighbourhood in town.
Amazing ambience, outstanding location, a wealth of amenities and decent on site luxuries like room service from the upscale restaurant downstairs.
If your looking for a spot with character and in the right location for touring around old Montreal, this place is tough to beat. You get what you pay for.
Nearby activities: History!!!! Architecture!!!!
Walkability: Amazing!!
Food and drinks: Lots around

We stayed here for 4 nights in a deluxe suite. The location is excellent. You can walk on St Paul street all the way to the Basilica. There are some wonderful shops, restaurants, and art galleries.
However there is significant room for improvement in terms of service and room maintenance.
The state of the room was quite dated. The bed creaked very loudly even when one gently turns on it. I was surprised that the bed even existed in that shape in a suite.
We complained to housekeeping and reception on our day of arrival and they did nothing about it. For room service, we ordered scrambled eggs and toast. And they served raw bread.
There are definitely much better choices at various location in Montreal. This hotel was a stark contrast to the excellent service as well as warm and friendliness we experienced elsewhere in Montreal.

I'm writing this not as someone who stayed here during the WMIC conference in early September 2024, but as a faculty advisor for two outstanding young black graduate student scientists who were possibly targeted for extensive scrutiny because of their race. My university pre-paid for their rooms at the St. Paul and the hotel front desk staff repeatedly required our administrator (a white woman) to come to the hotel in person and present the credit card for re-review. It was fortunate that the woman whose name was on our university credit card happened to be in Montreal and was able to vouch for the two students. Even after handing the credit card to one of the hotel staff upon arrival, she had to go back and do the same again when the students checked out. We cannot help but question whether this scrutiny for a PRE-PAID room would have happened to white people staying at the hotel. Montreal is a beautiful city filled with lovely people. It's a shame that the experience for these two upstanding students had to be marred by the hotel staff.
To reply to Mrs. Daniela, we were not made aware of what "appropriate documentation" was required. A representative from our institution who fortunately was in Montreal presented the exact credit card in person at check-in when the students were not able to check in with the pre-paid room using that credit card. This should have been adequate to avoid having the same person be present with the credit card when the students checked out. But no. So perhaps there was no unconscious or conscious bias, but there certainly was miscommunication and major inconvenience for the students and our university administrator.
