Car was towed after an accident. Went back to car 12 hours later and everything was taken. No remorse on their part. In fact, the guy even smirked when he he said they weren't liable.

My car broke down on the 5 Freeway, and I called AAA. Wilmer from Universal came to our rescue and towed us. He was very courteous, and showed genuine concern for our wellbeing and safety through the whole ordeal. Thank you AAA and Wilmer!

I have had battery problems recently and had to call AAA twice within about two weeks - both times I had an awesome experience. I was lucky enough to have Felipe dispatched to my location on both occasions. He was quick (even though I called outside of business hours), polite, and really friendly, cheering me up when I was at a serious emotional low. He even took the time to show me how to perform some basic operations on my battery myself if I needed to tweak it after he was gone. I know I'm gushing, but not only was the mechanical service stellar and totally pain-free, but the personal interactions I've had have been above and beyond. Thanks!

Prompt, professional and knowledgeable at a more than fair price. It's one of those businesses I hope never to need again but it's good to know about them if/when I do.

I unfortunately had to make a call to these guys 3 times within the last few days do to my battery dying which in the end they were able to determine that it was most likely my alternator. And thankful that each person that came to assist me from the first the second to the third we're all very kind very informative and made me feel comfortable in my car was going to be taken care of. Thank you guys for your quick response to my home and for having enough guys on staff to take my call even when I called you twice in one night on probably one of your busiest nights of the week. I was referred to these guys by AAA emergency roadside service and I'm thankful that AAA chose universal towing for all three of my calls.

Yes, WooHoo! 5 STARS As good as it gets!!! Tonight I was driving back to San Francisco from Orange County and my car, just repaired, sounded strange. I pulled off the 5 fwy after realizing there was definitely something wrong. I ended up in Lincoln Heights, near Downtown L.A. lost, freaked out and looking for the nearest gas station. Not a good feeling. I called Triple AAA once I found a station and they said the driver would be out in an hour and twenty minutes. Surprisingly, Paul -the amazing tow truck driver for Universal Towing- shows up in 15 MINUTES ?!?!? He was well spoken, kind, greeted me politely, shook my hand and was very professional and courteous. I immediately felt at ease and had confidence that me and my car would be towed safely and efficiently to our destination which, turned out to be completely correct. We had an enjoyable, calm trip to the mechanics shop back in Orange County. My car was perfectly unloaded upon arrival and all was wrapped up in no time. It was the most pleasant towing experience I've ever had. I felt completely blessed to have Universal Towing on the scene. THANK YOU!!

Horrible service and bad advice given. I am hoping AAA will remove them from their list of service providers. They try their best to do no work.

I had a great experience with them; I called a different tow company how much they would charge me to tow my car 15 miles and they quoted me for $125, I called universal towing service and they only charged me $60; and to top it off they where there before the time they told me over the phone.

universal towing was amazing. we got a flat on the freeway. AAA gave us a 30 minute estimate. they arrived in 20 minutes, changed the flat, personally escorted us to a nearby tire store - local, we would never have found it on our own - and in only 50 minutes from getting the flat we were on our way with a new, very reasonably priced tire. life savers

We had a experience a little like Geoffrey B's. My daughter was in an accident late at night and called AAA. Universal Towing Service showed up and in front of the police, and starting hooking up the car. We arrived in the middle of this, and the driver gave us the card with his information, as well as Palmer Tire & Auto Repair. He didn't ask us to sign anything with AAA and we assumed that that had all been taken care of before we arrived. When we went to retrieve our car at Palmer, they would not release the car because we owned them for the tow and for "storage." None of that was explained to us prior to the tow. We were very angry and disappointed at this and agree with Geoffrey. Skywriting and billboards all around town are not enough.

Universal Towing seriously helped us out this last week. Our van died on the 110 Northbound and we called AAA to get towed. At first we all thought we might have just run out of gas or something since the van has been in good working order, so within 20 minutes they came and brought us some gas. When that didn't work, they promptly towed us to our auto mechanic and were super friendly and helpful. Shares some good stories about biker gangs and old Hollywood and had a very pleasant ride back home-- so pleasant, I thought I'd give them two thumbs up...er 5 stars on Yelp. WAY better than Malibu Towing. Now THAT wasn't a good day for us at all.

This is long long long overdue, but just wanted to say that Jose Luis that works here was a miracle! I was running late, on a night that I REALLLY didn't want to be running late for, and AAA said they'd send someone in about 45 minutes. Jose comes about 10 minutes later... has all his tools, a smile on his face the whole time, and a great outlook on life. Not only did he improve my mood, ten fold he also saved my day!

I had a completely different experience with Universal Towing than Geoffrey B. did. I completely believe his story, and I feel really bad for him! I could see how something like that could happen on a rare occasion. On 3/6/10, my car stalled in downtown LA, and my friend who was with me has AAA Plus. A tow truck from Universal Towing came in 10 minutes, much to my relief, even though the dispatcher said it would take at least 30 minutes. He loaded the car onto a flat-bed in less than 5 minutes, and we reached my destination 20 minutes later in Torrance. The tow-truck operator was very courteous, nice, skilled and professional. I was thankful that he arrived as quickly as he did because my car was stuck in a driving lane on Temple and Hill on a rainy night. He made the ordeal of having car problems in downtown not a big deal afterall. I am always grateful when a tow-truck operator comes to my rescue!

It is extremely unfortunate that it isn't possible to give someone no stars -- in fact, it would be better, in this case, if I could sneak into their shop in the middle of the night and steal stars away, so as to ensure that they would never have any at all. In the early hours of a morning in late August, I hit a pothole and thought I blew my tire, so I called AAA for help. After waiting approximately two hours by the side of the road in Downtown Los Angeles (look at my picture... if you were me, how comfortable would you be? I weigh 135lbs, for God's sake) a truck from Universal Towing shows up. The fellows were very nice, though once they lifted my car to put the spare on, they said my suspension had been damaged, and I would have to be towed. This, they told me, would cost me $9 a mile. I was under the impression that my AAA guaranteed me 100 miles free towing, but they told me that this service wasn't covered. So, I got taken to the shop, and the car was put up on a flatbed. After I was taken home and had forked out the cash, (credit cards aren't accepted after midnight) I went to bed with intentions to call AAA in the morning to talk to them. Apparently, I was covered, and AAA can't figure out why I was charged. In addition, they don't have any record of me being towed from Downtown to Canoga Park -- the truck radioed in and said they had never found me. Universal said the same thing. Finally, today, after all of my phone calls have been returned and my questions are answered, here is what AAA figures happened: The drivers said they never found me, lied to me about my AAA, and pocketed the cash. AAA isn't sure about this, but they are investigating, and Universal, when I called *simply to inform them that an investigation was under-way* called me a liar, and then, when I was unable to provide details (such as the name of the shop they took me to put me on a flatbed to take me home) asked me if I was "even sober when they came to pick [me] up." I mean how in the hell was I supposed to know that I was supposed to be taking notes? It was after four in the morning, I was freaked out as all hell, my car was jacked up, I was tired, scared, cold... I figured I could trust the company AAA sent to help me, which was, evidently, a HUGE mistake... and I told him so. So... after his employees screwed me out of $270, the manager of Universal Towing had the nerve to call me a liar and a drunk. Even better than that, though, when after he told me that his employees definitely didn't pick me up, and I assured him they had, as I was no longer sitting by the side of the road in Downtown, I asked, "what are you suggesting? Are you saying that some random tow-truck just happened to be driving by where I was, at the approximate time of the accident, and provided the service to me?" And he said yes. HE SAID YES! I dunno if Yelp is enough. I might have to rent a plane and have this written in the sky over their shop. Anyone know how to sky-write?
