I am sharing this review as a training opportunity regarding loss prevention practices at this Walmart location.
My name is Ashley. I own and operate a cosmetic and paramedical tattoo clinic on Sherbrooke O with my fiancée, and I regularly shop at this location to purchase supplies for our studio.
Today’s visit was humiliating and deeply upsetting.
While shopping in the cosmetics section, I picked up three bottles of micellar water and placed them in my cart before continuing with the rest of my shopping, as any regular customer would. Shortly after, a Walmart employee who was not part of the loss prevention team grabbed my cart and demanded that I return to the cosmetics section. I was wearing headphones and did not initially hear him calling after me. Once I removed them, he continued pulling my cart and instructing me to return.
Back in the cosmetics area, another employee by the name of “Saber” who was already visibly agitated repeatedly demanded that I pay immediately, without explanation. When I asked if I had done something wrong or why I was being stopped, I was simply told to pay there because it was the cosmetics section.
I declined and placed the items back, as I had just begun shopping and fully intended to pay for all of my items together at checkout, like any other customer. After completing the rest of my shopping, I returned to pick up the micellar water again. Despite having a full cart, the same employee stood directly by the register to ensure I did not leave the section.
At one point, he attempted to make me pay only for the micellar water until I clearly stated that I would be paying for everything at once. After this interaction, an older white woman behind me was waiting to pay for her items, instead he asked her to proceed to the front checkout without any issue or questioning.
The contrast between how I was treated and how other customers were treated was clear and deeply troubling.
I understand that theft may be a concern in certain areas. However, racial profiling and discriminatory enforcement are not acceptable loss prevention practices. I was well dressed, carrying a full and did not give them any reason to address me in the manner they did. There was no valid reason to single me out. The only conclusion I can reasonably draw is that I was profiled because I am Black and visibly tattooed.
It is unacceptable in 2026 to be treated this way over a $10 item.
The employee Saber, at no point did he demonstrate basic customer service, professionalism, or appropriate training in handling suspected theft situations. Proper training and clear protocol are urgently needed.
For context, before opening my own business, I worked in customer service for over 20 years and have trained employees in both customer care and fraud and loss prevention. I am well aware of how these situations should be handled, and this was not it.
Walmart routinely asks for customer feedback with every receipt. I hope this experience is taken seriously, because I certainly am.
Added is a picture of me now walking through the store with a cart full of paid items only to be stopped again. Not ONCE but twice before exiting.

Today Dec 16 th 2025 around 8:30pm I went to buy the protector silex rice cooker the asst manager or manager by the name of madamme Ghizlane
Refuse to check on the machine which all the employees use to check the availability and the place where the item is placed
Then with lots of hesitation after repeated humble request she checked and said nothing available
I asked again politely could to please let me know which Walmart closeby has the item she refused I can not give you this information
This was surprising for me I have got this information in the past and she also challenged with A.M.R. a customer you could complain n to whom you want I don’t care
I really disappointed with her attitude towards me

O my god, people working in the Walmart are just so rude. I was asking one lady in the beauty and personal care section about a product and she was so rude and her facial expressions were really weird . She said , I don’t speak English and she just ignored me.
The management should take care of this.

Purchase a “gift card”, then find there is activation fees in the bill. Go to the service, the “manager” Catherine refused to refund, but without written in the receipt and back. They gave me a number to contact, but only automated phone records. Never go and buy!!!
