“We took advantage of a special shoulder-season rate and stayed at le Nordet one weekend recently. We had an afternoon spa session which was so relaxing and lovely. The hot tubs were really great; I loved the rustic wooden construction. The cold plunge tubs were small but just big enough for 1 or 2 to dip into. We really enjoyed the steam room, and the boreal tea in the relaxation room was a nice touch. We enjoyed the tiny sauna too! Best of all though was the service - the woman at the counter when we checked in was very kind and welcoming, and carefully explained that we could order dinner from the cafe to take back to our room as the cafe closed at the same time as the spa. I also appreciated that as a visibly queer couple, my partner and I felt completely welcome and comfortable here. We ordered pizza for dinner and ate in our room, enjoying the beautiful ocean view and the clean but rustic design of the room. We felt the pizza crust could've been a bit tastier (it was a bit breadier than what you would expect for fancy pizza) but otherwise it was suitable for a simple meal.
Aside from the beautiful ocean view, I appreciated the tranquil location and particularly the darkness at night! When I travel I often find it difficult to sleep because of the extensive artificial lighting around motels, etc, so the relative darkness was a welcome surprise (there were still exterior lights outside but they were low-wattage and dim).
The bed in our room was comfy and cozy, and we appreciated the many extra touches - a set of cutlery and dishes in the room for our use, a coat and shoe rack, a dining table with plenty of extra space in the room to set up and eat. The continental breakfast offered the next morning was above-average, with a variety of options, which I appreciated. One small touch could be a microwave & instant oatmeal option!
Overall, we felt that this was one of the best-value vacation experiences we'd had, and we look forward to visiting again. We really enjoyed exploring some of the nearby coastal trails before continuing on our journey.”
