Isle of Orleans is just a must do if in the Quebec City area. Expect lots of people on a really nice weekend. But driving around the quaint villages, beautifully renovated homes, fresh produce. Just a lovely relaxing experience.

The basic info about the island from Guylaine was helpful, albeit heavily colored by their interests, level of fitness, etc. (e.g., proposing that it was too hot to bike the island because they aren’t much of a biker).- Driving the island was boring.- Biking would have allowed us to experience more (e.g., hear and smell everything)—worth the extra time and energy in my opinion.I ended up needing to find a place to do separate exercise after the drive because driving was way too sedentary—it was not “too hot”. I could’ve had more then enough exercise by biking to each place we stopped in our car.

We had a wonderful time on l’île d’Orleans talking with Brigitte Bouchard at the tourist center. She was very knowledgeable about the island and showed us on a map exactly which places were open in this off season. When I told her I was here in an attempt to improve my French she spoke clearly and more slowly to help me understand and that was greatly appreciated. We made our trip around the island and then stopped in the office again to ask all the questions that our drive had prompted. And Brigitte had all the answers! She is a very friendly, personable woman and the island is fortunate to have her as an ambassador.Merci beaucoup, Brigitte !Sent from my iPad
