Contrary to “popular” belief, credit unions are good to do business with. I was a member of another credit union over 60 years ago, and the interest credit unions charge are usually lower than the banks. They’re good to do business with. JFL.

Be sure to follow up on inquiries concerning your loan. Make sure you receive their statements in writing and signed. Otherwise they will negatively impact your credit score

I was an active member of this credit union for about 3 years or so. I didn't spend much, but I didn't want to carry cash around and risk losing it. So I got a DEBIT card so I didn't have to carry cash everywhere, and i figured it would be better than accruing debt on a credit card because I am a teenager. Now I didn't know that you could make a transaction that would put your account balance in the red. OSCU has a $30 overdraft fee. I learned this the hard way, and the account went negative. I explained it to them and they voided the charge (the only reason it isn't one star). After that I began using cash for 99% of my transactions, leaving the DEBIT account to take care of electronic subscriptions (i.e. spotify, netflix, etc.) and such. I didn't pay attention to my debit account and one of the subscriptions put my account in the negative. They also tacked on their $30 overdraft "f*ck the poor" fee. Okay, that's fair. I should have had more money in the account but I hadn't checked the balance in a while. I figured if my checking account ran empty I would either have no money in the account or it would take money from the savings to take care of the bill. Well I thought wrong. A 2 dollar iCloud storage subscription was charged to the checking account that was negative, which at that point the 2 dollar charge should have been declined. INSTEAD, THEY ALLOW THE CHARGE TO GO THROUGH SO THEY CAN COLLECT ANOTHER $30 IN OVERDRAFT CHARGES. Needless to say I was very displeased and cancelled my account after I walked in hoping to get this resolved, just to find out that nobody in the building was able to sit down and talk with me about the situation. DO NOT USE THIS CREDIT UNION. THERE ARE MUCH MUCH BETTER ALTERNATIVES.

After 15 years of banking here I could have been more disappointed in the customer experience I received. This company fails to provide the features and benefits that larger Banks have. They have a small online presence and are difficult to find when using investing apps money transfer apps and more. To coincide with all of this they also do not provide a personalized customer experience that you might expect from a local State credit Union. You received the same cold an unbending interactions you might expect out of a larger Bank. They are unwilling to fix their own mistakes and place blame on their customer base. I strongly suggest reconsidering before banking here you'd be better off using a corporate bank that will at least allow you convenient perks for banking with them. I see no benefit to banking here whatsoever.

This is absolutely the worst credit union/bank I have ever deal with! There is one loan servicing clerk who seems helpful in figuring out why my loan payments are not being distributed properly but with my last payment, the same thing happened again. Shouldn’t this automatically happen when payments are posted! If I could pay off my loan, I would, just so I don’t have deal with them again! Just horrible!

I have completed two Yacht loans with Ocean State C.U. and couldn't be more pleased with the level of service I received. Claudia Flanagan has been very helpful through both loan transactions and I'd highly recommend doing business here. i also visit the branch from time to time to make in person payments and I've always been greeted by smiling tellers. Great place!
