Let me start this by saying, I run a local dealership. However, The worst car buying experience anyone could imagine. I ordered my car. It was set to be delivered in 6 days.. it took 20 days. Not to mention the transporter cracked the bumper coming off of the truck. Carmax offered to fix and paint the bumper to original spec……. It took 2 weeks to paint and the color is SO BAD that I just had to pay $2500 to get it completely redone. Embarrassing service, I call d to get updates every couple of days… impossible to get in touch with someone. When I did, I was told “I’m committed to give you an update everyday” then didn’t hear anything for weeks. $80,000 spent on an M4 competition and another $2500 to get a bumper fixed that I was “promised” would be perfect…. Not only that, when I called to see if they would reimburse me for the horrible paint job, I never received even a call back. Nate, the manager is a yes man that refuses to make sure the customer is actually taken care of.

The car buying experience was not good . The first truck I had payed to be delivered was all scratched and somehow the scratches didn’t show on showroom photos even while carefully studying every photo. Must have been photoshop or something the truck also vibrated on the highway. So
I lost money on that truck . So I payed to have a similar truck brought there from a close by location and I waited 3 weeks only to have been told the truck is being repaired. They won’t tell me what’s wrong with it either. But I was patient enough I think 3 weeks . I went somewhere else and bought a truck I only got money back for the shipping the on second truck The one I never seen. The people that work there are very nice but not knowledgeable on vehicles there selling so you have to do your own due diligence. Also I would not have vehicles shipped if it’s not there then go someplace else even if they guarantied satisfaction. It takes to long .

The truck was in poor shape. Smelled hard of cigarettes from the minute you opened the door. The tailgate was twerked and wouldn't open. The under carriage was dented and caked with with white clay. It was rough.

Zero stars,
Not the carmax experience I remember,
What in the hell has happened to this location,
Whether it be “new management” or “new” corporate ideas 💡 or just overall lack of leadership! Or all of the above. 1 year!!…. 1 year and the ship has sunk,
This location use to be trustworthy, open communication, respectful, and on top of things and made buying a vehicle as smooth as possible without being a giant waste of time filled with bullshit excuses and lack of accountability!
Barley any communication, and overall care towards consumers when it comes to purchasing a vehicle.
It shouldn’t take 4 months to purchase a vehicle and be let down twice,
took our business elsewhere and was not disappointed.

**Disappointed Return Visit – Not the CarMax Experience We Remember**
We chose CarMax in Warwick, RI because of a great experience we had four years ago—and because we appreciate the typically streamlined, transparent car-buying process CarMax is known for. We love being able to submit a trade-in online, browse detailed vehicle listings, schedule appointments easily, and communicate through phone or text beforehand. All of that went smoothly and set our expectations high.
Unfortunately, the in-store experience this time was a major letdown and has made us think twice about returning in the future.
Our visit lasted **five hours** (11:30 AM to 4:30 PM), which was a far cry from the efficient process we expected. Things started on a good note with the front desk team—especially the person who greeted us with genuine warmth and professionalism. But once we were paired with our assigned salesperson, things quickly went downhill.
He didn’t greet us, didn’t smile, and seemed disengaged from the start. While we understand that everyone has off days, the lack of enthusiasm and basic courtesy throughout the process was noticeable. He commented on our supposed lack of excitement—when, in reality, we were just trying to make a big financial decision carefully and thoughtfully.
The biggest concern, however, was his overall lack of competence with the CarMax systems and the buying process itself. It truly felt like we were one of the first customers he’d helped. He struggled with the computer system, repeatedly made the same errors, and delayed progress by not asking for timely help. Even when others came over to assist, they didn’t stay long enough to resolve the issues, and he continued fumbling through screens, often distracted—at one point receiving repeated text notifications (that was an audible “HEY” instead of a ding or vibrate) that was hard to ignore.
He was also noticeably dismissive toward my wife, who is a technology director and was simply offering helpful suggestions. By the end, I was too frustrated to continue the conversation and she stepped in to manage the situation.
On top of that, he forgot to attach our license plate when we left. Later, he realized he had kept paperwork he needed and then explained—at length—how to scan and send it, which felt unnecessarily patronizing.
To make matters worse, there’s a **crack in the driver’s side window** that CarMax was aware of when we purchased the car. Despite calling three times now, we haven’t heard back about a fix.
To be clear, we love the car we purchased. But we did **not** love the process of buying it. If it hadn’t been a good deal and we didn’t need to trade in our previous vehicle urgently, we likely would have walked out.
Lastly, being asked to “leave a good review” right before we drove off—especially after such an obviously difficult appointment—felt out of touch with the reality of the situation.

Noah Rodrigues was a pleasure to work with. I had imagined that it would be a difficult process but Noah was prompt, kind and explained everything well. I was pleased that my offer didn't change after an inspection and test drive. The entire process of selling my car was was easy and pain free and I got $2,000 more than Carvana offered. The drive to CarMax was worth it. I recommend making an appointment as I saw others without appointments who had to wait. Highly recommend!

The appearance of the CarMax Warwick dealership was/is impressive...spacious, modern and clean. The staff of people within the sales area were friendly and courteous. My particular sales advisor (M. M.) was also very knowledgeable and professional. He made the entire business experience of purchasing my "new" car a breeze. Thank you!

We had a great experience. This was our first time buying a car from someone other than family/friends and they made it very simple. Our rep, Kirsten, kept us at ease, and was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. The vibe was helpful and relaxed. With two test drives, a trade in, financing and car prep, we were in and out in under 4 hours, with a car we liked.

Have been having the worst experience. After months of research, I traded in my practically new Mazda 3 for a Durango (which I paid to ship up here). I have been back 3 times for squeaky brakes just to be told after the 3rd time it’s a normal sound. After talking to a bunch of mechanics they all said the same thing … my car should not be making that sound. It all started within the first 90 days so it should be covered on the CarMax warranty … apparently I have to pay for dodge to diagnose my car out of pocket … even though I was told over the phone that CarMax would pay for it OR I can sell it back for a ridiculously low amount and lose the 9k I put down.
They’re not really willing to do much at this point … I can’t even drive with my windows down because the squeaking is so loud and just getting progressively worse. Maybe my brakes need to fail so I end up in a ditch for them to admit my car is a lemon or that they don’t know what they’re doing.
If you’re looking to buy a jeep/dodge or anything along those lines, go up to street to bald hill where they’re much more up front and knowledgeable. I wish I had done that.

Don’t even bother wasting your money. Co-signed for my son’s first car and poor kid is stuck paying for a lemon. Called the store and guy that answered was so rude and unprofessional, where was that same energy when you wanted that sale? Lesson learned, when you go into a place that makes you talk to 10 different people, it’s to confuse you after purchase so you can’t pin point who gave you miss information at the time of purchase. They take advantage of females and is only interested in getting you to sign and get your money. I will NEVER go back to another CarMax or even recommend this place to my enemy. Car has had nothing but problems after problems and lo and behold it all happened right as their limited warranty is up. If you gonna spend all that money on a vehicle, it should NOT have major problems that quickly unless it was a lemon to begin with. Shameful people then you wanna be rude on the phone. Says a lot when there’s so many other similar complaints.

Total waste of time. Car is 18 months old. Paid $60k for it. Offering $29k w/ 14k miles and basically new. Dealership offered $7k more (cash — not a trade in). Don’t bother— either sell car yourself or trade back to dealership.

Our experience was excellent. Matt was amazing. We sold our truck with no hassle whatsoever. He even helped us get our items out! We were going to trade in another vehicle and purchase one there, and even though we didn't (offer for ours was too low), we still had an awesome experience. It's the best visit to a car dealership that we have EVER had!
