All of a sudden there's a new online banking site where I have to get a text or an email just to log in every time. I hate using it now and it's not acceptable.

I went here with my girlfriend today around 3:45 PM. We went in regards to change her card out because her card was cracked. We simply needed it replaced. The teller was really nice pointed us in the right direction while we waited for a banker. The banker comes after around 5 minutes of waiting. Was rude off the back. Banker asked what she can help us with and we told her that my girl needs a new card and a name change. She said she couldn’t do it and that she needs documentation. We said okay. We showed her plenty of documents with her name how it should be spelled. She still gave us an issue. I asked what was the issue ? She then responded we had to go to court to get the proper documentation. I said what type of court document we need for a name change on a card? She didn’t answer the question. Then she said that she can possibly change her middle name? And a couple minutes after she said she couldn’t. Little does she know that I have executives that work for citizens bank. So I gave her the benefit of the doubt knowing she was lying. We then left after she said she couldn’t give a new card. Said her printer was not working ? And that we had bad luck!l Also, said for us to go to a different branch to get a new card. We asked to keep our old card and she had said we could not get it back. That she canceled it so there’s no point in her giving it back. I spoke with my friend who works at a citizens bank and he notified me that everything she had told me was incorrect. That she has to let us no if we want to have the card back or have her destroy it. At least giving us a option. She judged us based on our appearance instead of who we are. I also do security for the garden city plaza which she doesn’t no. I will back tomorrow to speak to a manager and make sure she gets some type of discipline for lying, being rude, and flat out making me and my significant other feel disrespected. Banks shouldn’t have banker working in this type of Field if they can’t even have morals and disregard people’s feelings. Unnecessary and unacceptable.

At the holidays this year, I realized I had to pay my payroll taxes for myself, a single member LLC S-Corp, by 12/31 to write them off. As explained to the branch manager, I currently work part time to stay home with my 1-year old and so this year all of my profit went into my personal/external savings account. When I went to transfer money back to Citizen's to write my Payroll tax checks, I forgot in the midst of the holidays that it's set up for the money to go into my personal checking vs. business checking. Therefore, one of the checks bounced and one overdrew the account. Luckily the same day the checks hit I saw the mishap, and moved the money into the business account and re-wrote the check. I went into the branch twice and then had to call to get a response re: a one-time refund of fees given the innocence of the situation. I was told they'd "meet me in the middle" and charge me $40 (!!!!!) instead of $80 (!!!!!). I explained that things are tight right now given my part-time work and baby, and I am asking for a one-time leniency In-Full since I've never overdrawn an account and this was a stupid clerical error (specifically, Not Negligence). I also explained that in my 20 years of banking I've made other accidental errors like this (ie paying a credit card a day late) and have always been treated as a valuable customer with understanding that things like this happen. Her response is that she felt she's doing me a favor by taking one of the charges off and that "WE ARE A BUSINESS TOO AND HAVE TO MAKE MONEY" - are you kidding me?!?! I informed her at the end of my call we will be taking our imminent home refinance elsewhere, because why would we pay this bank $10Ks in interest with this kind of customer service over something so innocent? You'd think living in RI that Citizens is a local bank and would treat you as such, but they certainly are not. Hopefully we'll have better luck with the RI Credit Union or Bank Newport...
