I cannot say enough good things about our experience here. It felt like we found a team of Angels while we were going through a tough diagnosis with our 12 yr old cat. Dr. Megan Salgueiro and her team helped keep our boy comfortable during his last months. They were always caring and so good with him. He was not good with vets in the past, but they worked their magic and were able to give him an exam and shots without sedation. They made a difficult time so much better. They truly care about what they do and it shows. Thank you so much for everything, we are forever grateful.

It has taken me a year to write this. I figured I would settle down before writing a review. We had a very negative experience at VCA Atwood and I cannot recommend this place. My husband had a guide dog. The first thing we did after relocating to RI was to find a vet and animal hospital that would take care of his needs. He also had pet insurance, so money was not an issue.Rocky was a yellow Lab. Anyone who is familiar with the breed knows they must control their food intake as they will eat anything. We had a prior situation that resulted in him needing emergency surgery to remove an intestinal obstruction that turned out to be a piece of cloth, possibly a sock. So, we were very sensitive to his behavior. Our previous vet was wonderful in that anytime my husband needed his service animal to be seen they would accommodate us even if we had to wait between other appointments. After all, he was so much more than a pet. He was my husband's eyes and enabled him to move through life safely. The VA considers a guide dog a prosthetic. The average cost of breeding, raising, and training a guide dog and training its handler (at the time we got him) was $48,000.Rocky wasn't eating. He was lethargic. We called VCA Atwood asking for him to be seen. I explained when this happened before he required emergency surgery. They refused to give us an appointment stating they were too busy. It would be days before they could get him scheduled. I explained again that our other vet would fit us in as he wasn't just a pet, he was a service animal! I feared that we didn't have days! I persisted and they recommended another specialty clinic. We did call the clinic and they had an answering service that stated they were only taking level three trauma cases. What is a level three trauma case? He wasn't hit by a car. Well, they wouldn't make an appointment either. Rocky passed away. We won't ever know if VCA had examined him, and given him medical intervention, even if he had to be transported to another facility if he would have survived. I feel they should take the "Hospital" out of the name as it is very misleading. We are not new to taking care of animals. We fostered for a no-kill shelter in the past. We have experience working with other vet facilities. We have other pets. We could not in good conscience bring them back to that facility. I have found another place for my fur babies.

They are the most kind and understanding people I have ever met I cannot express my gratitude Enough They helped me through a very hard time in my life and still reached out to me a month later with a wonderful card I cannot say how much they were there for me, it is a wonderful wonderful place to go I recommend it and would give it a 100 stars if I could thank you all.

This place turned us away on Friday for an emergency euthanasia of our cat. Their response to me was that they had no time. What does that even mean? You took an oath to help animals but don't make time for emergencies? They should be ashamed of themselves. Luckily we did go to the Cranston Animal hospital and they took us in without even hesitating. That is what a vet should be.

I have to say that I really like this place. Our dog Cannoli needed to have teeth removed because his breath was horrendous. We had him checked out by our local vet and they recommended this animal hospital for the dental procedure. It turns out that the poor little guy had to have 18 teeth removed. He is just a 10 pound terrier mix and apparently that is common for them. But it made me very concerned for him and I was worried about how he would react to surgery. We took him in to be checked out first and they told us what needed to be done. There was no charge for this initial visit and it gave us a good idea as to what had to be done and how he would react to it. So we made the appointment for the surgery which was just a week later. He did have to go in for a pre-surgical appointment. We dropped him off for the surgery in the morning and got a call early afternoon that he was doing fine and was recovering and still groggy. They explained that they had to take so many teeth out because he had so many issues. I was worried because I didn't know how he was going to eat but the doctor reassured me that he would do just fine. They gave me very clear instructions as to how to take care of him at home. Mike picked him up later and he came home and he recovered beautifully. We had no complications and he has been fine ever since . You would never know that he had almost half his teeth removed. I have to say that I really liked how frequently this doctors office called to check on Cannoli and to give us information while he was there with them. We felt very safe bringing him there and they were so caring toward our dog. I believe that we have found our new vet.
