John,My wife and I have been working out together (off and on) for over 30 years and we have tried aerobics, boutique, strength, traditional gyms, boxing, and HIIT programs.I wanted to say that since we have been attending the East Greenwich location for 5 months this is hands down one of the best workout programs I have been a part of!The facility and equipment are in great shape, and it’s always clean. The staff are helpful, provide positive support, and challenge you to do your best. The actual Workout Program with functional movement has been a game changer for me. I have better coordination, balance, and endurance! I think it is perfect for all fitness levels as it can be modified to each person’s unique abilities. The other members have all been supportive and friendly.I enjoy being a member of this community and would highly recommend it!Keep up the good work!Thank you.CarmenPs. Since the membership is for both Wakefield and East Greenwich, we have attended class at both locations and found them to be similar from facility, staff, and member support.

I started going to Manic in East Greenwich just before the pandemic hit. I was overweight, always feeling lethargic, and had constant back pain. No more! (OK, still slightly overweight) But I did get my metabolism up, I’m never feeling lethargic/out of shape, and no longer struggling with back pain.) John and my classmates could not have been more welcoming, patient, and help me get my sea legs back. Such a great, fast paced, sweat delivering workout every time. I also love the variety of class times and it never feels too crowded. And I’d be remiss if I didn’t thank Nina for staying on top of us, even those days we think we have an excuse to miss! Give it a shot, you won’t regret it!

634 classes in 4+ years is an average of ~3+ classes per week. For me, finding something I loved was key to making it a consistent, repeatable activity. Manic challenges my body and my mind... and I’ve made some really great friends along the way. First week is free and they have two awesome locations: East Greenwich or Wakefield

Between the quality of the workout, and the kindness of the people, it somehow makes a workout "fun." Not to mention how good it feels to be strong and healthy. But mostly, it's just amazing to be supported in community like this, while we all work toward our fitness goals, whatever they may be...

As an exercise enthusiast all my life, Manic Training is, hands down, the best gym I’ve belonged to. I’ve been a member since Manic opened and it never gets old, definitely stays challenging. The community John Ford has built is amazing, its such a positive uplifting atmosphere, everyone’s there to encourage one another. If you’re completely new to fitness or a seasoned veteran this is a fabulous place to workout!

I've been a member of Manic Training East Greenwich since Nov. 2017. This HIIT program is designed for all skill levels. Personally, I feel like the program at Manic can challenge, train, and change anyone. Since attending classes, I've actually witnessed people, myself included, increase their strength, push their cardio to new levels, tone, and lose weight. Not limited to just adults - My teens started attending the classes at Manic this past summer and also enjoy the program. The members and staff were great with my girls who plan on continuing throughout the school year.

Manic training consists of 1 hour (or 45 min), instructor-led group HIIT (high intensity interval training) exercises which incorporate cardio, speed, agility, balance, kettlebells, dumbbells and body weight exercises Each week, there are 3 different classes (M/Tues, Wed/Thur, Fri/Sat), with about 5-6 different times to choose from throughout the day. The format and exercises rotate and are never the same, sometimes not repeating for months. Although you could take the class every day, 3 times per week is more than sufficient and this is coming from someone who used to go to the gym daily. It's a great class, and John (the owner) or other trainers can help modify exercises based on your difficulty level. Many of these exercises you can do while traveling too!

Format: High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), or short spurts of intense exercises followed by active recovery movements that runs the equipment gamut. A class may feature work with slam balls, rowing machines, kettlebells, free weights, step platforms, and suspension training straps, as well as body-weight exercises. But SkiErgs, Airdyne exercise bikes, battle ropes, yoga balls, and more also line the bright orange walls of the gym. The regimen’s designed to be done three times a week—Monday or Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, and Friday or Saturday—so you can skip Tuesday’s class knowing you already did that workout Monday (if you were that ambitious). Your three classes in a week, though, are entirely different. Even if, say, the rowing machine is incorporated every time, you might be on it for 350 meters as part of a set one day and then try to burn 30 calories on it the next.

Manic training is fantastic! I started this June and felt welcome day one. I was a bit nervous showing up because I figured it was intense and I haven't done strength training or anything high-intensity for years. I was relieved and very happy to see how easy it was to modify the workouts for beginners. They even have a 10:30am class specifically for beginners so instructors can take extra time working on good form. Lastly, their instructors are knowledgeable but also really care. I can't recommend Manic more highly. They offer a free week trial so If you want to get back in shape and feeling strong, I recommend you give it a try. I'm happy I did!

I have been coming to this location for almost two months. Walking into Manic Training was the best decision I could have made for myself and my fitness goals! The classes vary and I am constantly learning new exercises. My form has greatly improved since coming to manic, as well as my balance. The instructors are amazing at correcting form and guiding you through each exercise. They are incredibly helpful and invested in making sure you succeed at meeting your goals. Whatever your fitness goal may be, I definitely recommend giving manic training a shot!
