BEWARE: Jon misallocated a large portion of my income to PA in 2021, and when I sent him the notice from the state he told me not to worry, he'd take care of it. Now, almost 2 years later, I'm stuck with an 18k bill after interest with a tax lien. He acknowledged the mistake (because I didn't live or work in PA) and then told me I'm on my own, there's nothing he can do.
This situation has been an absolute nightmare that I've been stuck holding the bag on.

I sent Jonathan an email with some business accounting questions, and he got back to me the very next day and spent 30 minutes on the phone with me, offering helpful and valuable information and advice with a patient, friendly, and down-to-earth approach. Based on this positive interaction I will absolutely be retaining his services when tax time comes around.

Update: I will leave this 1 star so it can be easy enough for other business owners to find. I just got off a call with Johnathan the owner. He was unaware of the situation, reviewed my corresponding emails, rectified the situation to my satisfaction with a more than adequate refund. He will personally be handling my account now, and the CPA that dropped the ball on my filing and communications is no longer working for Ucran & Company. Took almost 5 months to finish my taxes, they filed an extension without my permission to buy time. It was clear my account was too insignificant for their time. Ignored my emails 10-15 days at a time. I saved all of the emails as proof if anyone would request to see my experience before using their services. You can make your own informed choice after reading them first hand. They charged to pull my transcripts which you can do online for free yourself. Hidden fees at the end of the entire process. It cost me 100% more to hire them than they were able to save me in taxes. With their expensive fees on top of it and poor communication I feel the responsibility to warn small business owners to stay away. Every step of the way I was transparent with how I was feeling and that did not change their response time, taking weeks for them to email me back. Just terrible. Buyer beware. They are not BBB accredited and from what I saw on their profile I am not the only previous account that got left hanging when Ucran & Crookes swallowed them up.

I'm writing this review begrudgingly after my most recent experience with Jonathan through email after going to him for what I believe is going on 5+ years. I've always enjoyed having what I thought was one of the best CPA's in the state (I look into reviews closely) but after really looking at how he's treated me as a client over the years I have to say he is incredibly unprofessional and has no manner of customer service. I can align with other reviewers in that if you're not a business owner or someone spending a lot of money with them that they will forget about you and make sure that they do not respond in a timely manner if at all. On multiple occasions I have reached out to Jonathan on some clarification on understanding my taxes. Each time I have to "chase them down" just to get what I believe is fair to me to ask. For example, "Hey Jonathan, I was wondering if you could help me understand my taxes a little better or if I might be able to reduce the taxes I'm paying." No response. "Hey Jon, would love to chat about this years taxes." (After receiving his email that if I have any questions to please reach out) -- no response. Recently I provided them some critical negative feedback and also posed a fair question and Jonathan's response was passive aggressive to say the least. Also, first he quoted tax returns for new clients are typically $175-$225, now it's $270 for a simple tax return and for me to ask a question about it. Full disclosure so it doesn't seem like I'm withholding information, I think when I first started going to him I was charged $75? Then it was increased to $100 which is when I reached out and asked politely as to why. Then this year was $120. Who knows, maybe I've been being spoiled as far as to how much I was paying for someone to spend 5 minutes to do my taxes but I never gave them a hard time about that and was always respectful. All in all I think the concerns were valid and presented an educational opportunity on my part if my expectations were off for what I was paying for.

Jonathan is simply the best, there is no other way to put it. There was no omission of any information but at the very least had you returned my call you would know this. It was an error by the division of taxation Dept which I contacted myself. Giving out a clients personal info in a review is unethical but since you went there that was the outcome. Quoting the office personnel from the R.I. Dept. Of Taxation "your accountant could've found out for you in a nanosecond." That being said I stand behind my first review that once you receive payment you no longer represent, even to make a simple phone call. So unless a customer wants to pay an additional hourly fee I suggest go elsewhere to a more professional company that has time for their clients and I quote you said " I'm busy and don't have time." If I paid more fees, which you stated, then of course I'm assuming you would make time.

I Usually do my taxes online, glad this year I went to Mr Ucran, very knowledgeable and personable. I learned alot and had fun.
