staff tends to be skeptical of patrons coming in, but it is only because they truly want the best for all the animals in their care. potter league remains the best animal shelter in the state. please support this local shelter !

We adopted our 2 kittens from there. They were rescued from an extreme hoarding case in Florida. I love how friendly the staff were and how easy the process was.

Great people! They clearly love every animal they have in their care. They helped us find the perfect family member! He rescued us as much as us we rescued him!

They really care about the animals there. Saddens me to have had returned a pet I adopted but it just didn’t get along with my other pet after a week. Their animal behavioral person was not helpful when I reached out about concerns of the animal I adopted from Potter League, if they had given me more insight I might have been able to keep the animal. :/ regardless they did a wonderful job with the adoption process. Thank you Tracy!

Mentally ill dogs are okay but mentally ill people need not apply. I brought back a beautiful dog named LuLu after she was vocalizing like crazy due to the fact she was in a condominium setting.Overnight, I realized I made a mistake. I called Potter League first thing in the morning, got documentation from my neighbors. When calling Potter League and asked for the dog back, the receptionist mentioned that LuLu was definitely still availale for adoption, so my heary was eased. I was then directed to a man who would not listen to my situation and already had his mind made up about the dog and about me.This is discrimination of handicapped persons at its best. I am LGBT and have mental illness. This was supposed to be a therapy dog. It needed 40 mg of Prozac daily. I needed double after this occurrence with the gentleman on the phone denying me LuLu back.I have not received back a dime of the over $300 I paid for her. I was promised a refund in a check paid out within a week. I have yet to receive anything. Completely ashamed at this organization for it's ableism attitude.

Where to begin with the lovely Potter League.I adopted my pup almost two months ago and am continually impressed by this rescue. A few highlights:1 - They were supportive through my adoption process, even letting me borrow a crate for the first several weeks before investing in my own.2 - Benji came home with a thorough health examination, all of which was affirmed by our first vet visit several weeks later.3 - Coming from a terrible situation, Benji was, and in some ways still is, incredibly shy and anxious. We’re working on building his comfort around other humans. However, every time we return to Potter, he is JOYFUL to see familiar human faces. I’ve truly never seen him so positive towards humans as he is with these individuals. It’s evident that while Benji was at Potter, the staff and volunteers invested in him, comforted him, developed relationships with him, and undoubtedly are a part of what has made him a better, happier pup. It's an aspect of dog adoption that I never considered the value of until witnessing how positively Benji responds to everyone at Potter.Side note: Loads of research has proven that the minutes/hours/days after a traumatic event are CRITICAL to setting human beings up for future recovery and success... and as I learn more about Benji, I can't help but think that after being removed from his traumatic environment, going to Potter is a part of what is helping him transition so seamlessly to a happier life.4 - Why are we going back to Potter, you may ask? We attend most Sundays for a FREE adopter’s class with Alexandria Hawk, an AMAZING dog trainer. Alex has been instrumental in transforming Benji. He’s progressing so rapidly with her philosophy of encouragement and understanding. The weekly free class is simply invaluable.5 - Potter is clearly fostering a community around the rescue. They maintain a lovely Instagram that has helped me feel connected to the organization even after adopting. Benji recently donated cat food when they posted that they were in need. I have yet to attend any of their events, but a neighbor just three houses down who also adopted from Potter attends many and loves them. I look forward to joining when Benji is more comfortable around other folks :)Points 1 & 2 are table stakes for selecting a rescue, but 3-5 are what set Potter apart. I would give them 100 stars if I could.Overall, this is a rescue you will feel great supporting. Thank you, Potter League!!!

I visited this facility for the first time this past October. Below is the email I sent them about my experience as soon as I left in October. I have yet to receive any form of reply from the organization. They sadly are only hurting the animals with their rude and unfriendly front desk staff as they are the face of the organization for anyone walking in.Email sent on 10/30/23:Hi!I wanted to let you know I came in today for the first time after many recommendations to check this organization out. I walk in to about 8 women at the front desk in conversation. Not one acknowledge my presence with a hi, hello or welcome in. Not ever having been here before I wasn’t sure where I was supposed to go or how things worked with this facility. I walked off and found the dogs. In one of those hallways I was greeted for the first time by one of the employees mopping the floor with a quick smile and a hello. After checking out all of the dogs, found the cats. I was greeted in there about 10 minutes later for the first time asking if I needed assistance. I then went to the lobby again where there were 3 women behind the desk and continued to be ignore by them all. I had planned to purchase a sweatshirt at the very least but I was really put off by the rudeness and ultimately walked out. To again silence. As someone who also works in animal welfare, the front desk is the heart of your organization as well as the face. Was a very disappointing experience and just thought I’d share for some potential retraining of customer service etiquette.

My fiancé went by there this evening after making more than 1 phone call in the past few days about a dog we were interested in to adopt for Christmas. First 2 calls was pleasant to who ever we talk to earlier on the day to see if the pup was still available and was interested in seeing . It was available so we told to whom we talk to that we will be by after work since it was open til 7pm . They told us of course and call right before we head there to see if the pup is available. We called to see if the pup ( chandler ) was still available and their response was yes but we’re closed at 7 with a very rude tone in her voice . My fiancé drove an hour away to see the pup and received nothing but attitude and ignorance from the 5 older women working when asked everything question to the point where my fiancé walked out upset. We don’t understand how animals like this can be adopted when there’s a miserable staff working there. Very disappointing and upsetting .

Unbelievable they really helped me and my Family in a time of need and took in my Parrot and took Unbelievable care of him for us until we were able to move into our new home and they even brought him to us and dropped him off with a new cage. Me and my family are very grateful to the Potter League for helping us out in the time of need. Can't say thank you enough.

People here are rude. I called inquiring about potter league cremation services and she literally screamed at me that they were the spay and neuter facility. Couldnt even bother to tell me to call the other potter league. I will never recommend some to this place
