This place is a popular and packed destination right next to the water. The views and the overall vibes are this place are pretty great--they seem like they are packed most of the time during the summer when the weather is nice out. Overall I think the food is a bit average. Of course you'll be paying a premium for seafood, but as someone who lives in Chicago (where seafood is already pretty bad) and was hoping my visit in Rhode Island would be different, my dish was overall pretty bland and generic. They do have some interesting and nice cocktails however! I just left feeling like I wasn't completely satisfied and didn't get my fish fix here.

The food was easily a 5. I had the pan seared scallops and my mom choose the fried. They were able to substitute the side dishes so that each of us could create a delicious meal and that accommodated my food allergies. I was sad not to be able to have the couscous with my scallops and think they could have been better plated but they were perfectly seared. Our server was very friendly and answered the questions we had about the menu. The food is on the pricier side and so I expected a fancier restaurant. This is a casual and very large restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The 3 issues we had were:1) it was chaos trying to give your name for a table or to check in for a reservation with a staff member. There was a line but then someone else started randomly checking people in so there was a lot of pushing and confusion in a tight entry area. 2) The length of time to get our desserts. We waited about 40 minutes. Our server told us someone else had "taken" my mom's strawberry shortcake so we had to wait for another to be made. Regardless, this still was way too long to be waiting for dessert. 3)The other issue was my brownie was supposed to have vanilla ice cream and had chocolate instead. It was already such a rich dessert, this made it too sweet/heavy. It was still excellent and we didn't want to wait any longer so we didn't say anything at the restaurant. That said, the view was beautiful and the actual food was delicious. This isn't the place to go if you're in a hurry. If you don't mind spending a bit more time and money, I'd recommend this restaurant. The pan seared scallops are crave-worthy and just look at the desserts!

Located in the Galilee section of Narragansett, next to the boat entrance to Pt. Judith pond, where the ferry, fishing and pleasure boats access the ocean and in front of Salty Brine State Beach, you couldn't ask for a better spot.Parking can be a bear in the summer. Georges does have it's own parking lot to the left of the building. There is also a free 2hr lot across the street if you can find a spot. On street parking is limited. Paid beach parking is located to the right of the restaurant. Several other private paid lots are scattered around the village. In summer they offer dining on the beach. Sand in your toes, wind in your face, seagulls looking for a snack and beach appropriate music. Chill vibe. They also offer take-out window service near the entrance in the summer, along with a beach shop in case you need a pail, sunscreen, t-shirt or the like.Enter the building from the beach parking lot side. A hostess stand is directly inside as is a waiting area. They will seat you in one of the lower dining areas facing the street. We always head upstairs and try to get a table overlooking the boat traffic in and out of the pond. On busy days there is another hostess upstairs. This level has three indoor dining areas, bar seating plus an outdoor patio overlooking the ocean. Casual, beach attire is expected. The ambiance is very comfortable, slightly upscale, boating/nautical/local art adorns the walls. The food is well prepared. Can't say I've ever had a bad meal here. Staff get busy in summer and are not as chatty as in the off season, but everyone is professional and know their job. Mixed drinks are well made and they offer a few beers on tap, the usual house wine offerings, coffees, teas and soft drinks. Georges has been around for decades and continue to offer good fare, including lobster rolls, to tourists and locals alike. It's a comfotable, casual environment, good for the whole family. When in the area it's worth a stop.

We received a recommendation from a family member to go to this restaurant and it was amazing. We absolutely loved the location at the Port of Galilee with a view of the Marina and the Sea. There are many restaurants in the area, but George's definitely stands out from the rest.As we walked inside, you can smell the fresh fish and the seafood and you felt like you were walking inside and old Galley waiting to set sail.We did on a great and succulent food adventure with the rest of the crew. Our son started with a Lobster Bisque, which was very thick and succulent. There is nothing better than a bisque that is plump and soft and hits the punch. According to him, it just needed a little bit of the buttery taste from the ones he eats in Massachusetts, however, he loved every bit of it.We then moved to the Smokey Applewood Bacon Mussels with plenty of bacon, onions on a creamy sauce that reminded us of an Alfredo Pasta. Absolutely delicious with every bit and we love that it came steamy and ready to eat. Mussels were tasty, but maybe a little small, probably due to the season, but every bite was inviting and we ate the whole thing with gusto. My favorite was the Bourbon Pecan Salmon with the sweet potato puree. Very sweet, flaky, well cooked and melted in your mouth with that hint of bourbon and a bit of smokiness. My son had the fish and chips and it was really crispy and crunchy and he loved the tartar sauce with it, that had a nice tangy sweetness taste combination. My wife went with the po'boy sandwich which she liked. Our server was amazing and she was always there when we needed her, without being too overbearing. You could tell that service is important to the restaurant and there were many servers and also Maitre D' walking around to make sure that everyone was taken care of. Parking was really hard and this was late October at 3PM, but the weather was 80F that day, so I guess everyone was dying to be at a beautiful place and enjoy the last vestiges of Summer. I don't blame them, nor the full restaurant at the, where we did have to wait 30 minutes for a table, but not regretting one bit that we stayed the course on this great adventure to Galilee!Cheers .....

George's has some of THE BEST seafood in the area, seriously. We are never disappointed and this dish was everything I had hoped for! Sweet, creamy, crunchy, salty, savory. It was perfect for a crisp autumn afternoon. The dish was presented in a stack and each flavor and texture fit perfectly with the next. I will definitely be having this dish again! My DH and I love to sit at the bar, and our bartenders for the day were fast, friendly, and attentive. If you're looking for a great meal and a nice atmosphere, head on over to George's, just save us a seat at the bar!

Had an opportunity to eat at an all-time favorite and write an updated review. The service here is always beyond reproach. You can't beat the views! In summertime, it's busy and we often utilize the take-out window. Eating our clam cakes & chowder in the beach is the best! The college kids that man the window are always friendly, polite and obviously well trained. In the off-season, it's busy but less so AND they take reservations. On today's trip, I ordered the Shrimp Scampi for the first time. What a treat despite it being a commonly prepared dish. The shrimp were plentiful, fresh and plump. The pasta was perfectly cooked. But the thing that set this dish apart was the sauce. It was buttery, not oily, with just the right (read : generous) amount of minced garlic. The pasta was not soaking or floating in it, but there was enough at the bottom of the dish to make it thru the entire serving. A wonderful piece of toasted olive bread accompanied the meal. Perfect. My date ordered the Cioppino. The tomato herb broth looked amazing - so much so that he finished it and did not offer a taste to yours truly. The mussels, calamari, clams, fish, scallops and shrimp were fresh and delicious, according to my stingy date. I would have required additional bread to sop up the broth, but he was content to use a spoon and finish it like soup.We waddled away with bellies too full for dessert. I walked off my gluttony on the beach, dreaming of my next trip to George's.

Non summer time is the best time is the best time at George's. None of the parking fiasco that you have with tourists and beach goers. We made the trip from the "city" to grab a late dinner and the place was wide open in spite of it being URI alumni weekend. We checked the hours before leaving and they listed open until 10 but when we arrived at 845 the host station was hesitant to seat us because the kitchen closes at 9. I totally get giving love to your hard working kitchen but not the best look. .. especially with 15 minutes to go. Smile, seat us and let us know? Maybe change up the hours on your page? In any case, the night was saved by our FANTASTIC waitress who waved us in to a seat. And boy, do I wish I remembered her name because she was absolutely on top of it. Friendly, patient and attentive . We sat in the dining room downstairs which has cozy wood trim and old school wooden booths mixed in with tables. Pretty bar against one wall that was doing a steady business with a handful of couples. I typically do the sushi but that's not on the off season menu. Disappointing but I'm sure the volume of customers doesn't warrant a full time sushi chef. I ordered bucatini and clams...basically a pasta and white clam sauce with little necks. Six Little necks were tender and perfectly steamed open on a generous portion of pasta. I wasn't impressed with the actual entree - pasta was a tad overdone and the sauce was lacking any depth or real flavor. It was a very thin broth, which is fine...but definitely needed a flavor kick with garlic and herbs. The clear chowder as a starter was great. Full of clams and potatoes in a rich, clear broth a la Rhode Island style. (Noticed later that you can get a free cup with your Yelp Check in - nice touch). So overall, I'd give our server 10/5 stars. The rest was solidly mid. That being said, I will be back and probably steer toward my fave lobster roll next time. And thanks to our waitress, we might make some weekday trips down for their great off season specials.

Do not be fooled by the name "George's" for sushi! Sure they have the usual seafood fare like calamari, clam cakes, and whatnot, but the sushi is what keeps me coming back. So fresh, creative tuna combinations (my go-to fresh fish) and excellent service. I love that I can get sushi through the take-out window when it's slow. And who doesn't love their BOGO gift cards they sell towards the holidays!! What a deal! Can't wait to be back in Galilee to have me some more George's!!

George's is a Galilee staple. It is in a prime location and the new addition of the beach bar is pretty awesome. We've had some fun nights there, but it does seem to be pretty expensive and potentially overpriced. For food, we stopped in for some apps and it was just so-so. It is a nice restaurant, but it's not the best seafood I've ever had in the area. I would suggest to come up with some specialties that are unique to George's!

Nice place on the water. I'd say the stars vary from 3-4 depending on the dish. My beet salad with salmon was scrumptious--fresh beets and almost too many pecans (but is that a bad thing!?). The calamari was ok--small portions for the price and mostly peppers. The burger was ok, nothing special but it is a seafood place. The trio was tasty but had too much breading. Overall I'd say it's good but pricey for the serving size.

Today we took a nice ride to Narragansett/point Judith. Walked the beach to work up our appetite. As usual, George’s doesn’t disappoint. Busy today. No reservation made but we were quickly seated on second floor and our waitress Jess greeted us promptly. As usual menu is vast and specials are intriguing but we both went with the Galilee fish sandwich with home made chips. As expected, it was perfect. We have been going to George’s forever. Myself have been going for at least 50 years. My wife loves the restaurant n food. Thanks for the great lunch today. The Galilee fish sandwich is delicious ❤️❤️❤️

George’s blew us away. We are frequent visitors for oysters - always excellent! But that didn’t prepare us for the excellence of their wine dinners! The food was paired nicely with the wines. Great wine and food commentary. The chef is fabulous! Excellent service, too!

Hard to make reservations using online system. Confused indoor and outdoor seating. But hostess worked us in. Busy Saturday but worth waiting for. Liz was a friendly and attentive server. Best clam chowder South of Nova Scotia I've had. Fresh seafood. Nice date night on anniversary trip form NH.

My family and I brought my mom here for her birthday, It was one of the best restaurant experience we had in a while. Right when we walked in we were greeted by the friendliest host who sat us right away. After that our server Maggie came over and eagerly shared with us the specials for the night and was able to answer all our questions with no problem. Everything came out perfectly in just the right amount of time too. My favorite dish by far had to be the hurricane calamari it’s was a fan favorite at our table, best calamari I’ve ever had.The hospitality at George’s is one thing I am most excited about returning. We will definitely be back soon!
