Unfortunately I have to give this resort a bad review. I booked a room for Feb 17, 2024 back in Oct 2023 and at 9:30 am on Feb 17 I received a message that my reservation was cancelled due to over booking. Very poor management !!!We've been visiting Newport 4+ times each year and for the past few years will always check availability at Onshore first. Going forward I don't think Onshore will be our first choice. Very disappointing.

Nearby activities: I got a haircut yesterday just 2 blocks away from My room and I'm glad I did it because I'm on a huge job's search soon ?Walkability: Very Walkable for the whole locationFood & drinks: This tiny little village has more quickly to find Restaurant locations on the waterways or up the road then coincidentally anywhere I've been and I'm 44 ?

A friend has a time share with Club Wyndham, and we stayed here. We had a 3 bedroom for 4 ppl and it was fabulous. Great showers and beds are very comfortable. The kitchen was good. Freezer has an ice maker!Very convenient--it is in downtown Newport. We had a dedicated parking spot, so no worries about going out and coming back. I would stay there again.

Love it!! The rooms are beautiful , the beds comfy , maybe the TV could be bigger. The town is small and full of places to eat within walking distance.

We've been vacationing in Newport, RI for over 20 years, and Club Wyndham Newport Onshore is a great location with comfortable accommodations and beautiful views of the harbor and bridges. The manager and all the staff are wonderful and do everything possible to make it a great experience. We absolutely love it here! Thank you!Walkability: This resort is walking distance to Newport shops and restaurants.

WARNING: Don’t ever book a reservation at the Club Wyndham Newport Onshore! They shockingly and unexpectedly canceled our prepaid 2-night stay after my family and I arrived in Newport after a 3+ hour drive and were ready to check in. Same day!! I even spoke to Clarence Smith earlier in the week to confirm our Onshore reservation, which he did. A Club Wyndham Newport Onshore representative admitted after the fact that this “happens all the time here” due to their continued practice of overbooking. This business practice is unethical and is absolutely unacceptable. It totally ruined our planned weekend in Newport.Note, if this happens to you I strongly suggest that you file a complaint with both the BBB as well as your State’s Attorney General Office.Dear Wyndham, since you obviously made utterly no attempt to find other accommodations for my family and I, please stop insulting your already annoyed customer-base by placing canned responses here saying how sorry you are along with a useless phone number. It’s only adding fuel to the fire!

I love it here we come twice a year to stay overnight and other times we drive down for the day just to walk around see the boats and the people. Also love going to second beach.

Do NOT Book through Extra Holidays - Scam Alert! - Wyndham Hotels are using a shady 3rd party booking service called Extra Holidays. They will resell your reservation and either leave you hanging or relocate you to an inferior room. We faced a nightmare on a wedding trip because of this crooked business. Book direct or through a reputable booking company. Extra Holidays is NOT that company.

The Wyndham Newport Onshore USED to be a GREAT place to stay, but now, RENTERS BEWARE!The location and facilities are absolutely GREAT and I would like to give it my highest ratings, but since the start of 2023, there has been a huge problem with the management of the place. My family has been renting stays at this resort for almost 20 years. We would rent weeks directly from owners, through third party websites such as Redweek or from Newport vacation rental agencies. We also booked stays directly through Wyndham. We NEVER had a problem with any bookings until this year (2023). In May, we booked four nights through an online third party site. The DAY BEFORE our arrival, I got a phone call from the manager at the resort telling me that they were overbooked and that they didn't have a suite for us. Instead, they offered us a room at the Wyndham Inn on the Harbor or at the Wyndham Long Wharf. Although these are nice properties, they are NOT equivalent in terms of amenities and location. As such, we were not happy with the switch, especially when I was informed that there would not be any reduction in the fee we had paid. We refused the offer and canceled the reservation and received a full refund. We booked another stay this August with a gentleman who was an OWNER of the week. The same thing happened again. The OWNER was contacted the DAY BEFORE our scheduled arrival and was told the same thing - overbooked, can stay at the other hotels instead, so sorry, etc.. Needless to say, the owner was pissed as were we when we were informed about the situation. Once again, our vacation which we had been looking forward to for over a month was destroyed by the apparent incompetence of the resort management. And once again, we canceled, although this time we were not able to get all of our money back due to credit card fees and broker fees.SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THE MANAGEMENT. As I said, nothing like this had ever happened to us prior to 2023. If you look at other online reviews, you'll see that the same thing has happened to other people, and it all began in 2023. I just cannot understand why this is happening and what sort of misguided thinking is behind it. Calling renters the DAY BEFORE they are due to arrive and telling them that they don't have a place to stay is simply unacceptable. Offering them rooms at lesser facilities with fewer amenities and not offering a partial refund is not acceptable. We're fortunate that we are within driving distance of the place so we didn't have to cancel plane tickets as some others might have had to do. Imagine booking your vacation week at Newport Onshore, taking vacation time from your work, arranging a flight and transportation to get there and maybe purchasing tour tickets in advance only to find out the DAY BEFORE you’re supposed to check in that you do not actually have a suite in the resort. That just isn’t right.Although we absolutely love the place, I'm not sure we're ever going to try to book there again due to these issues. I would recommend that if you book there, call multiple times in the weeks leading up to your reservation to confirm that they do have a suite for you. But of course, that's impossible to do because Wyndham does not list the direct number of the resort anywhere and you have to go through the main Wyndham contact which is next to useless for this sort of thing. I know this because I’ve tried it.TO WYNDHAM: YOU'VE MESSED UP WHAT USED TO BE A REALLY NICE PLACE!! FIX THIS!!!

Usually this is our favorite summer spot. This year was a bit disappointing since the outside pool was under construction which really sucks when you're vacationing in July. We made do with the inside pool and the grass area. The sunsets are spectacular. I wished they told us in advance about the pool situation before we got there. It's nice when you're given an informed choice of where to spend your summer. They also offered no compensation when asked. Still the location is perfect... walking distance to everything.

Do NOT book here. We stayed here in the past and it was good space and location. This time, We booked here 2 months ago, paid in advance. The DAY before we are ready to go there, we find out we were bumped not only from the resort, but out of TOWN altogether!! They bumped us to a wydham in Jamestown across the bridge (with no discount). Not nearly the same experience. Not only that, but it was the facility in Jamestown that called us to let us know because they wanted to ensure we were aware, NOT the property we had originally booked! We opted not to go and instead asked for a full refund which they promised we would get in 5-7 days (which I will be checking regularly). So much for my son's birthday trip! We will NEVER book there again.
