Liz working the front needs a promotion. She helped my now Fiance plan the most magical proposal and she did it from start to finish. She made a memory for us to last a lifetime. The hotel has extremely comfortable rooms, brand new clean feeling, and is right downtown in all the action so you can get in/out quickly! This was our second home on the property and we love staying at Hammetts Hotel.

Great location, clean but extremely small rooms, and horrible thin walls. Bridal party woke us at 6:15am, called front desk after 1/2 hour of dealing with doors closing and girls loud and laughing. After 10 minutes or so of calling front desk, someone came up. Things were better for about 15 mins and then it started all over again. Front desk could care less.

First I want to say I am a Hiltons Honors member AND, even more importantly, a travel agent. This hotel is very cool in terms of history, decor and location. What kills it?? The service. Not up to Hilton standards. If you are a Hilton rewards member you will not experience any perks or feeling of being special at all. The hotel must be understaffed or under trained - which is light of the money the hotel costs - is ridiculous. This hotel has so much potential - Hilton just needs to invest in its staff and training (eg a front desk person should not have interrupted and hung up on me). To be competitive this property needs 1) more polished staff, 2) sound proof windows/walls, 3) polished front desk staff, 4) guest services - of any kind (we had to go to the front desk to get extra blankets and pillows. First world problems - but when you spend $600 a night on a room - the experience should reflect that. I guess the Hampton Inn with valet service will be where we stay next time? Just saying.

Location is great, Room 700+/night, tiny with even smaller bathroom but nice view. Few amenities, no food service, nearest breakfast blocks away. Parking very expensive. Overall a lot to pay just for reasonable location.

DISAPPOINTING! The only thing this hotel has going for it is location. At $576 a night we expected more. The room was small, not even a chair, no dresser or closet in the room, no safe, a tiny bathroom. Dirty rug.
Extremely disappointed in this for the price we paid. Only stayed 1 night. Will not go there again and dont recommend.

We had a great stay at Hammetts. It would be great if they had a restaurant inside with the ability to take a drink to your room. Minor thing, the location is just perfect for everything you’d want to walk and see.

Highly recommended. Nicely appointed rooms with big windows and a beautiful view. Very comfortable hotel with terraced area for enjoying the boats. Each floor has a common area for meeting people and socializing.
The location is perfect. Right in the middle of everything but surprisingly calm once inside or when enjoying the patio.
Every member of the staff was top. The cleaning crew was friendly and keeps the place spotless. The valets and front desk staff were engaging and professional.

The Hammets Hotel in Newport impressed with its sleek, modern design and genuinely warm hospitality. From the moment I arrived, the exceptionally friendly staff made me feel right at home, offering helpful recommendations and prompt service.
The décor throughout the property is tasteful and contemporary, with clean lines and thoughtful touches that give the hotel a boutique feel. I especially appreciated the spacious upstairs lounge areas—perfect for working on my latest manuscript, with comfortable seating and plenty of natural light.
On the downside, the guest rooms are on the smaller side and lack basic in-room amenities like a refrigerator or microwave. While the complimentary bags of ice helped, families traveling with young children or guests needing to store snacks would greatly benefit from a mini-fridge. Additionally, it would be a wonderful enhancement if the hotel partnered with the adjacent restaurant to offer wine, beer, or charcuterie delivery directly to the lounge.
Overall, The Hammets Hotel offers a stylish, friendly retreat in Newport—just be prepared to step out for a mid-stay snack or chilled beverage.

Location, location, location. We stayed here for our wedding weekend and it was PERFECT. I spoke with Arlene over the phone a handful of times when booking and she generously upgraded us to a junior suite with a stunning view of the marina. There were some chocolates and sweet handwritten card congratulating us on our wedding when we arrived. Checkin and checkout were seamless, and they cleaned our room everyday. The hotel is spotless, the rooms are sleek, and it’s quiet (you can’t hear your neighbors). FYI there’s no real closet space in these rooms, but we made it work with the built in drawers under the bed and the small space to hang clothes. Also, the rooms only come with a mini iron, but the front desk brought us up a true iron and ironing board for the week! Would stay here again!

Very disappointed…We have stayed in “coffin” hotels in Tokyo that have had more amenities and more thoughtful spacing. The rooms here are small BUT they are purposefully small and the interior design shows the plan was to make as many little boxes as possible in the space they had and furnish them in the cheapest New England “hippster”. The bed is very comfortably and there is a little day bed by the window that over looks a very busy courtyard but the shower and bathroom are incredibly small and poorly designed. There in no light in the shower itself and the water pressure from the bottom of the line shower head is that of a trickle and the shower head isn’t even a water saving ‘low flow’…it’s just cheap. The packaging of the wall installed shampoo and conditioner is worn off like at a sketchy Motel 6 in San Bernardino CA. The water bottle the hotel gives you for refillable filtered water has an almost comical made in China Sticker on the bottom and the hairdryer is a brand that has been known to spontaneously melt. This is NOT a 450$ a night stay…not even close. We would HIGHLY suggest spending the extra money and staying at Cliffhouse or finding one of the nicer INNS around town.

That’s the living space between my bed and the window… this hotel is very economical with space but they charge us $800++ per night on a weekend. No coffee. No decent gym. No kitchen for room service. If it weren’t for the location (which is smack in the middle of happenings), we wouldn’t be paying that much for this type of accommodation. So what’s the use case of this hotel: for those attending events in the vicinity of the wharf but no intention to use the rooms except to get dressed and sleep.

This hotel is way overpriced! Rooms are very small. They should really discount your room when you stay more the one night. There is minimal storage and with 2 adults you need to claim your space. Cleaning was below my standards (pocket door in bathroom could use a good cleaning) Dark lighting in hallways and bathroom which is extremely tiny. On a positive the bed was comfortable and they serviced the room daily without having to call. Location is outstanding but along with other reviews I prefer clean and comfortable It is the most money I have ever spent on a room and the most for valet parking ($45 a night)no place to self park. Coffee and tea only in the morning. For the price they could throw in a warm cookie or pastries in the AM.

Amazing location, Incredible service, and I don't think there's a room with a bad view in the whole hotel!!! Will be back!

The location is an amazing spot. The rooms don’t have much in them no extra special things just a bed!
