I found Jennie after moving to Newport and needing a bad haircut fixed. She did a phenomenal job and I walked out very happy. She’s very talented and lovely to chat with! The studio is gorgeous.

Wow! I am wildly impressed with Christy. Honestly I have never felt so in love with my hair when leaving the salon. She really listened to what I wanted and really delivered. I was truly looking forward to working with Jennie for my May 2021 wedding as the work I’ve seen online by her team does look beautiful; however, we unfortunately made the decision to postpone our wedding due to Covid. I have to say that I am extremely disappointed in how the entire situation was handled by Jennie. All of our vendors (including Jennie Kay) had clauses that our deposits were non-refundable and non-transferable; however, all of our vendors were still extremely accommodating in still allowing us to move our deposits to our new 2022 date as we are still in the midst of a pandemic (most I was able to change no problem, and a couple we paid very reasonable change fees) which was so greatly appreciated throughout all of this. Jennie, however, (the only vendor out of 7 vendors that we had issues with) took weeks to answer emails and when she did answer she gave an extremely vague response that she would not be booking weddings in 2022. I would have totally understood had she explained to me that she was already booked on the day I’m rescheduling, but she wasn't booked and still refused to transfer our deposit. I understand that our contract stated it was non-refundable and non-transferable, but so many vendors have been so kindly moving deposits anyways during covid. I even offered to pay a change fee if she would transfer the deposit, but she refused - so I lost a $1,200 deposit. Please also note that I gave 5 months notice, this was not a last minute change. I know that as a bride I personally would only want to work with vendors that treated their clients well and were accommodating and understanding during Covid so I wanted other brides to know about this experience as well. I hope Jennie take this review into consideration when she works with future customers as I would neither work with her nor recommend her again.

The fact that she doesn't provide any clear, reasonable explanation and then just keeps an $1k+ deposit is not good business in my opinion. I just hope she take this review into consideration when she works with future customers as I would neither work with her nor recommend her again.

I'm very disappointed in this salon. I booked an appointment online for a Sunday. Thought it was a little weird, but everyone's schedules are different these days. Received email confirmation upon booking, email reminder a week before, was sent COVID paperwork to bring in. Show up Sunday, salon is closed. Called several times that day and over the next few days and left messages. Got no call back, no return call from anyone. This appointment was a week before my wedding. I made it clear via my phone messages that it was really important to me, and they didn't care. Don't rely on them!

Been going to Jennie Kay for 12 years and would follow her anywhere. The salon is so bright and cheery and I always love her suggestions for changing things up with my cut or color. Her bridal work is also unbelievably beautiful and natural.

Jenny is an artist! She knows how to make anyone look amazing and every time I get my hair done by her I get compliments on compliments for weeks after. She has a way of cutting your hair that makes you feel great about yourself. Definitely have a fun night out planned after you go see her! (Not the best picture because of my coat but my recent cut & style from her)

I left a message, explaining the number of people in my wedding party, the number of services, and my wedding date. They called me back, but they did not leave a voice mail. I contacted them again, asking about their availability for hair and makeup on my date. Instead of answering my question, the person I spoke to, questioned me on whether or not I had looked over their prices and watched their videos. How is that an answer to my question? It was presumptuous to think I couldn't afford their services, and rude to dismiss my question until I watched their videos. I knew what their services cost. To expect me to wait for an answer on their availability until I sit there and go through their videos is unreasonable. Do they not have a booking system that they can look into and tell me, based on the number of people in my wedding party and number of services, if they are available? It was a waste of my time.

Christy’s blowout is perfect. loved my experience in the salon today; Jenny is a sweetheart. My hair looks like virgin hair again-I love how it looks and feels. I’m So happy to have found a place I can call home! Book with Christy, she’s got talent!

This review is solely from the perspective of the boyfriend/husband variety. My wife, Kalin has big beautiful hair-think 1985 white snake videos- but has always had trouble finding someone to trust it with. For years, she bounced around dozens of salons with the same disappointing results. It wasn't until she started going to Jennie Kay that she found someone she could trust and rely on, and I have to say I see a huge difference. For one, she actually looks forward to the appointments, for both the great service and the conversation (I appreciate the importance of having a good rapport with your hair dresser, I assume they don't talk football and cars like I would, but it's nice to pass the time with someone you enjoy conversing with. Equally as important, she looks great and feels more confident every time she leaves. Hey, I get my haircut by a bald guy for 20 bucks so what do I know, but at the end of the day if you leave the salon feeling better and happier about yourself, that's priceless. Guys, do yourself a favor, book an appointment, buy a gift certificate, drive her there, call an Uber, whatever you have to do, you'll thank me later :)

I’m always looking forward to getting my hair done at Jennie’s salon. The color, cut, and blowouts are always on point and receive so many compliments. Jennie is the only professional I trust to change my hair style. I’ve been one happy client for three years now.

I wanted to love this salon after hearing rave reviews, but I didn't have great luck here. I had Ashley, she was very nice, friendly, seemed to be listening to what I wanted, but it turns out, she wasn't. I wanted face framing highlights, I already had natural streaks of blonde in my light chestnut hair, which I loved I wanted them filled in around my face and wanted her to "blend" my highlights. Well, I don't know if she was rushed for time or needs more experience with blonde color highlights, but when I was finished.,$280.00 later, I was not happy. My hair looked darker, my highlights were now gone, and my hair had a reddish tint to it. 3 hours wasted, not to mention I hated my new color, and regretted having it done. It looked better before I went in. That was a frustrating experience. I won't be back.
