Highly recommend for a couples off season weekend trip! Enjoyed my stay at the quaint, quiet and comfortable hotel. The location is perfect only a few blocks away from town for shopping and restaurants, we hardly moved our car. Staff is so welcoming and kind, we appreciated the welcome snacks. Enjoyed the continental breakfast delivered to the room, good coffee, fresh OJ, fresh baked pastries. Comfortable bed and bedding, robes, room was very clean. Will be back :)

Probably one of the better hotels I've stayed at and such a reasonable price even given the off season. Great location, walking distance to downtown and secure, easily accessed parking on site. Friendly reception and free welcome snacks/drinks will ALWAYS be a +1 in my book. The room was so comfy- big bed with soft sheets, high ceilings and exposed brick, small living area and a clean bathroom with nice soaps. The coffee/tea station was a really nice touch, especially the delicious Tazo tea and the separate kettle for hot water (hotel coffee makers give me the ick). I loved having different options for breakfast dropped off outside my door. If I really *had* to make one quibble, would be to add sheer curtains under the main ones, since there are some neighbours fairly close by and the sheers can help with privacy during the daytime without blocking light. Will definitely recommend to anyone going to Newport.

Believe the reviews, the employees here are THE NICEST people. We traveled the Northeast for two weeks and the employees here were the friendliest we encountered. Hotel is awesome and great location as well, we are already planning another visit to the area will definitely return here to stay.Food & drinks: Breakfast brought to your room in the morning and free sangria in the lobby at all times

We stayed a couple of nights for a quick getaway. The staff here is so friendly and accommodating. I don't think any other place in Newport can match their kindness and genuine concern for the guests' wellbeing. We were on the first floor and the room was spacious and gorgeous. Unfortunately, there was a very loud noise that started in the middle of the night (sounded like a generator or something), and Lori (thank you Lori!) was able to upgrade us to another room (no charge). The rest of our stay was very quiet and peaceful. The complimentary breakfast was perfect and just enough to fill you up and get you going. The fruit is fresh, the chocolate croissant is a cloud of deliciousness, and the orange juice is freshly squeezed. It's great that they provide free parking. Although it is quite tight, parking is a hot commodity in this area, and it's so walkable that you don't need to move your car that much. The staff is very knowledgeable about the area and everything that it offers so don't hesitate to ask them for pointers! They gave us quite a bit of helpful hints.Keep in mind that it's a very old building so some things are out of their control, but overall, the Mill Street is charming and quaint. You have the old world charm of brick walls, with the modern amenities like great air-conditioning and the staff is absolutely wonderful. It's on a little bit of a hill, but that's the perfect way to walk off all the food we ate! We are in Newport quite a bit. Needless to say, we won't stay anywhere else. Thanks Mill Street Inn!

On our way to a wedding in Chatham, MA., we spent two nights prior in Newport. I picked the Newport Inn based on reviews both from Google and Trip Advisor. I concur with both of their high recommendations! Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly, bright young staffer by the name of Chelsea. My husband who is experiencing Vertigo was struggling with the luggage and steps and I couldn’t manage them alone. She kindly had a maintenance staffer help me with our luggage and up the two flights of steps we went. After dropping off the bags, “Jeffrey” shared interesting history with me and gave me several recommendations for dinner spots. Unbeknownst to us, the yearly boat show traffic was coming in for the weekend so he suggested we make our dinner plans sooner than later. We did! The room was charmingly original but updated at the same time. Plenty of water pressure, hot water, amenities, and a frig along with a cute balcony; but I’d really call it a private porch! So fun to look across the rooflines toward the water with such gorgeous views! The breakfast menu is limited but was tasty (and brought to the room each morning!) and the coffee was a nice medium roast. I really enjoyed the size of this quaint Inn and the location. I see it as a lot of bang for the buck. I highly recommend The Mill Street Inn.

My wife and I really enjoyed staying here. It has a great location, close to all of the restaurants on Thames St. We parked our car and didn't move it till we were ready to leave. They have everything that you need in a hotel and the staff was wonderful.

Lovely accommodation that tries very hard to please you. BUT If you are sound sensitive then this place may not be for you. Being an older building there seems to be a soundproofing issue. The bedroom in our suite had no other room behind it and we were able to close the bedroom door so we had a quiet night's sleep. However, in the sitting room area, noises such as our neighbor's entire loud conference call, the dog barking across the hall (which was infrequent and not really a problem) Leads me to suggest asking about the location of your room before booking.Sorry, I have to add the bed was lumpy and by the second night my back was miserable and I do not have back issues. The comforter is very heavy and hot so without I was left with a sheet and heavy blanket. I just really can not recommend this place. I would be very disappointed if someone recommended it to me.

Have an amazing 4th of July stay at the Mill Street Inn with my Dog. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, the rooms were beautiful and comfy, the breakfast was tasty, particularly the baked goods! and the location is perfect. We could walk to basically everything.Recommend to everyone, particularly if traveling with a dog.

The Mill Street Inn location could not have been better; walking distance to the Newport Art Museum, restaurants, the wharves, and other places of interest. The duplex with an outdoor seating area was a nice feature. The harbor view made it special. Everything was very comfortable with lots of thoughtful details.Breakfast delivered to our door was delicious, healthy and generous. Everyone working at the inn was pleasant, well-informed and accommodating. We enjoyed our three-night stay at the Mill Street Inn. We will definitely be returning.

Not run by nice people. You can hear the staff gossiping about each other. It's a high school. They make false accusations when the manager isn't even in the building. I think I'll go on vacation and make up stories about people. Avoid any place that treats other people like paper towels. The amount of drama is not worth it. This complaint was entirely deserved.
