If I could give zero I would. Tried to get a car loan. Perfect credit. Turned down twice. Got parent with 800 scores to cosign. I was putting 50% down. They offered 15.94% lol. Walked to people's and got 6.10% left with a check all with in 30 min stay away

A+ for loan approval process and speed. F- for everything else. Applied for a loan and was quickly approved. The issue was, that the check was for more than the vehicle contract amount. As a result, I reached out to see if they could just wire the correct amount to the dealer. NFCU would not wire to the dealer. This makes little sense, as wiring it to the dealer would be the most secure option, and would ensure their security of the collateral. Instead, I was given the option to either request a direct deposit of the original funds amount to my account, then wiring it myself to the dealer or reapply for a new loan of the new amount. They would not even reissue the check for a lower amount. I chose to have the funds direct deposited. WHAT A MISTAKE. The process started on Thursday evening, and funds were finally deposited on Wednesday. At that point, I call in to do a wire transfer. I'm then told that it can't be done over the phone, and that I would have to send it as a secure message. The wire process is now slated to take 24-48 hours... That's pretty unheard of for an institution of their size. Wires are designed to have the money be sent within minutes. All in all, the whole process added over a week of delay to the process. Had I known it was this bad, I would have just reapplied on the phone Thursday night, overnighted the check, and had it by Saturday. NFCU should seriously reconsider their processes. These inefficiencies will seriously turn away newer member. Also, prior to this whole ordeal, the dealer told me that they would accept the check, but that they would have to wait until it cleared before allowing me to pick up the car... seems like they themselves have had to deal with these inefficiencies.

Have been a member for over 30 years, but do not use as our primary Checking / Savings. Recently decided to switch back to NFCU for the rates and found it near impossible to fund my Checking. Mobile deposit of a check was rejected as the special endorsement did not specifically say "TO NFCU" in the verbiage... So I corrected and resubmitted using a new check number. Apparently this looked like fraud to NFCU so they locked my mobile access capability - after indicating the correction for me to make. After 1.5 hrs on the phone trying to fund a checking account, NFCU indicated I had to mail in my check as I'm not near a branch - but did not have the address and left me on hold to go "find it". NFCU then informed me that I would have to file some type of appeal to unblock my mobile deposit access - after they instructed me to correct the special endorsement and resubmit the deposit. So I guess the strategy is to make the customer prove they are not fraudulent by formally begging in writing? No clear instructions, escalation leads to someone that indicates that the decision makers for this matter can't be reached directly - so what is the point of the escalation. Someone will get back to you in a couple of days by phone or NFCU messaging system, or whatever... maybe. I can't believe the cavalier attitude after me telling NFCU, WITH GREAT CONVICTION, that I am ready to close everything and go elsewhere with the frustration involved to fund my account and get my mobile deposit access restored as the first transaction in over 30 years - not an unreasonable request for something not my fault. I have been on the planet for a long time and have never encountered so many obstacles to provide a financial institution with $$$. At what point does common sense prevail? That's great if you want to implement security - but if you don't provide the means to address any false positives you are only hurting your potential customers and nobody seems all that concerned about it. I'm definitely getting a vibe that NFCU believes customers need them more than they need customers. This is not the DMV - I'm outta here.

I suppose that I've grown accustomed to Navy Federal Credit Unions overseas, but I absolutely love this location: it's convenient, rarely crowded, and has Saturday morning hours. The latter makes it so convenient for those of us that are detained, or otherwise indisposed during the hectic work week. There are two ATMs here -- a drive through and one on the entrance.

I'm truly impressed by the incompetence and lack of initiative in their home loan department. I was blown off by two loan officers who showed absolutely no interest in helping me get the amount I was prequalified for. It's especially surprising at this time of record low home sales and high interest rates. Fortunately there are many better companies out there that actually communicate with their customers quickly and create solutions instead of problems, because I just closed on an amazing house.Oh, and when I tried to wire my down payment to the closing agency, again Navy Federal displayed nothing but incompetence. Couldn't do it online. Couldn't do it on the phone. Truly mind-blowing. I can't believe this company is still in business.

I recently applied and was preapproved for an auto loan with NFCU. I am a civilian but eligible to use this group as a family member of a veteran. They were nice enough on the phone whenever I was talking to them through the process. However, they sent me on a wild goose chase for something they really should have been aware of .... they said I could pick up my check at a local branch. In Rhode Island there is only ONE branch and it's located on the grounds of the naval base in Newport. It takes 5 days for a civilian to get a security pass to gain access! So, I was badly misadvised! It would have been alot quicker just to have it FedEx'd overnight!

I have an NFCU savings acct and credit card - so did my mother who recently died at 97 years old. When the estate closed her acct they were told the $300 worth of points she'd accumulated would not be credited to the estate. The representative was snide and cavalier. I was STUNNED to learn this story. What a disgrace! My mother worked hard and she earned those points. That $300. NFCU STOLE from my deceased mother and my family. I will be smarter. I will collect my points BEFORE closing my accts! Shame on NFCU!!!!

I just wanted to mention the OUTSTANDING service and help provided by Chris, a customer service associate at NFCU, Newport, Rhode Island on Monday, March 27th. I went to this Branch to conduct a review some electronic payments I had made to one of my accounts over the weekend. Chris had a wonderful personality, was professional and knowledgeable and did a GREAT JOB in reviewing all of my accounts relevant to my transactions! He was extremely easy to talk to, very patient, and made me feel really valued as a customer! Chris is truly an asset to the Navy Federal Credit Union. As a customer I believe that anyone who performs their job well, should be recognized and Chris surely deserves the recognition! Great Job Chris! Thank you for your help!
