I went to a work dinner once, with a fashion designer named Ofelia, and then with her sister Charlize who owns an art gallery in Newport, and the place was very nice. I also visited shortly before I married my wife, Bonnie. Really, it is a good place to distract yourself and get away from problems a little. Cayden.

A bunch of us came in for a intimate dinner for my sister-in-law everything was great and the food was delicious! Although they did have a few items on the menu that they did not have available that evening but we were still pleased with what we had gotten.

Good and service was great, it was a rainy night so we couldn't enjoy the beautiful view. However the wine list is awful, very limited selection without a lot of variety. Settled for a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc that was average. A restaurant of this level should have a better wine list.

So my boyfriend and I reserved a table for dinner last night and showed up a few minutes early. The waitress was pleasant, and we were excited to try the food. We ordered a salad to start, and decided to split a filet mignon and fries because we were not that hungry. The steak came out, we split it into two, and my boyfriend started eating first. He looked up at me and said “this isn’t steak”. Honestly, I thought he was joking or his taste buds were off. I took a bite- 100% not steak. It was like brisket. It looked like brisket, tasted like brisket. It was so soft we could cut it with a fork. Texture was completely off. It was 100% not a $68 filet.Normally I wouldn’t say anything, but this was a special evening for us, we both wanted steak, and I didn’t want him to pay $68 for something we didn’t want. So when the waiter came over again, we explained what was going on and she said she would check with the chef. She comes back a few minutes later with the manager, who insists it tastes the way it tastes because it’s “so fresh”. He clearly does not believe us- maybe he thinks we’re being cheap? I don’t know but he did not apologize, did not offer to bring us a new plate, or take it off the bill. He leaves, the waiter comes back over to apologize (she was very polite and sweet), and I showed her the texture….she also agreed it was not filet. But she doesn’t seem to want to go against the managers decision.Honestly, we could have continued arguing, but it didn’t seem worth it to us, and like I said the waitress was really sweet. So we paid $143 for our meal of a salad, fries, and essentially pulled pork. Super disappointing. It just felt like they really didn’t care and didn’t think we were being honest.

It was our first dinner there since the hotel had change ownership. The service was great, our waitress was very professional. We were seated outside on the patio with a beautiful view of the bridge. The food was delicious. Great dining experience.

The wait staff at the restaurant was a 10. I have never seen such attentive staff before. The food was good but the experience was what made the evening special. I will be back there for sure

hotel was not worth the amount paid for the room. room had bugs all over the bathroom sink and in the bed. upon changing rooms the clerk at front desk was unconcerned at this. Will not go back.

Way over priced. Far from luxury. Our First room - claustrophobic. Water view overlooked roof w bird poop; peeling paint in room; door stuck - had to be forced shut; water leaked out from under shower door We were told room could be moved for second day. I checked in morning and person at desk said they would call us when new room was ready. Never happened. I checked 3x to see if new room was ready. On third try, guy at desk gave me new set of keys - but to the same to room - said no record of new room. Manager was called and she straightened it out. This was at abt 4 pm New room more spacious but - luggage rack broken, phone didn't work (someone who worked there later told us there was an issue in several rooms that had to be corrected). Also there was BLACK MOLD on bathroom ceiling. - see photos On our second full day, we returned after a day out to find our room hadn't been cleaned at 3:30. Had to walk to desk to ask abt it bc phone in room didn't work. Was told cleaning is only every other day which seems crazy at a resort that charges high prices and resort fees. Someone was sent to clean but we had to vacate room late in day when we wanted to relax. Resort as a whole is definitely in need of maintenance and upgrades. Staff seemed to understand there were issues here - most very nice although lack of training was evident One person acted as valet, bellhop and shuttle driver - which meant there was no shuttle every half hour as promised. This nice young man Alin should be given a raise for doing 3 jobs. Breakfast - some days was a buffet, some days not - no rhyme or reason for the change and staff couldn't give one. Very poorly run and over priced.

I wrote back in May 2023 at how disappointed we were at the outdoor bar service, waited too long for a drink, no eye contact from staff, etc. We had been to Gurney's several times in 2022 and always had a pleasant experience. We decided to try the outdoor bar again on Aug 20 and we were delighted to see a big improvement in the bar staff and the time it took to get drinks. We also noticed that the manager was walking around speaking with patrons. We believe in second chances and happy to share positive experiences as well as lousy experiences. Happy to say that the customer service is back. Congrats, we will be back again!

Overall we had an excellent experience. Service was amazing and very tentative. The food was very tasty as well. One thing to note is that it is a resort that allows kids so there are families around.

Location is beautiful but wasted on this run down property. The management could care less about guest satisfaction. The rooms are old the caulking on the tub is black. Prices are very high for what is provided. Absolutely no way I would repeat without a complete renovation and change of philosophy on how to take care of guests. Food is mediocre at best. Newport is such a great place but this resort is lacking in every way but location.

We were going to sit outside by the fire and were told “no, because there is a $50 a min per diner”. I mean clearly it looked like we couldn’t spend $50 a person at this find old establishment - so we took our business somewhere. Clearly they are going after the $$ and not caring much about guest experience.
