Let me start by saying that I love St. Mary’s Church. I’m not one to write reviews but after my experience with Father Mark I feel compelled to do so.My mom Laura, a devoted Catholic, passed away in December, after a long beautiful life of 100 years!Father Mark performed the Funeral Mass. What took place can only be described as deplorable. First of all, Father Mark never addressed the speakers by name, which was most disrespectful. One of the speakers, a great- niece of my mom, who traveled 3 hours to attend the funeral, was denied her opportunity to speak. The chosen nieces to bring up the gifts were also denied this honor. But the worst act of disrespect to my mom was when her 2 granddaughters were told to stop while in the middle of their eulogy! When my daughter politely said to Father Mark she wasn’t quite finished, he instructed the organ player to start playing music! I, and the whole church, could not believe what we were witnessing. Father Mark should be ashamed of his actions. He should also be reprimanded and removed from St. Marys and or the priesthood. Priests like him give the Catholic Church a bad reputation. How can a person’s life of 100 years be given 5 minutes to honored and eulogized? To top it off, Father Mark didn’t have the decency to shake our hands as we were leaving. If Father Chris were still at St. Mary’s, this never would have happened!

⛪Beautiful Architecture, Rich History, Welcoming Staff⛪The oldest Parrish in the Diocese of Providence, St. Mary's was designated a National Historic Shrine on November 24, 1968. It is known among other things as the marriage place of JFK.If you love touring cathedrals and churches, St. Mary's is a must-see. The interior is gorgeous, and I've tried to capture the splendor with my camera. Of course, nothing compares to seeing it in person! The staff onsite are friendly, informative, and welcoming. They answered my questions and provided a place for me to leave my beverage while I went inside. I'd highly recommend the experience to everyone.

This sweet Catholic Church is open to the public. It's a must see inside. It's absolutely beautiful. This is where John and Jackie were married.

This is a gorgeous Gothic church and my home parish.we have a new younger priest now fr. Mark and he has now opened the church every day from 10 am to 2 pm I think it is when you can walk in and say a prayer and light a candle and take photos if you wish.

Went for "midnight" Christmas Eve mass. Terrible disappointment. It was not candlelight. The Priest was late. Lost his place in the sermon. And must have said the word "hate" about 50 times in that sermon. Who wants to hear that word on Christmas Eve!? Felt more like a social justice event than mass. I should have known this would be a political type of church. But I was hoping for a beautiful faith filled worship. I have been to both Trinity and St John's Christmas Eve services in previous years. Looks like I will be returning to those. Unfortunately St Mary's fell way way short. I went home feeling heavy instead of feeling light and hopeful.

Beautiful old church. Friendly greeters. The choir was talented and the service was meaningful and delivered well by the Father. I will attend again when I stay in Newport.

They leave the Church locked, so you cannot go in to pray. I guess we Catholics don't need to do that anymore.
