Came in here a few months ago as well and he used the same “not my style” lines and pointed me towards the back. It’s identical to the other bad reviews. Sadly, any clothing that was a small, he told me I couldn’t get because it wouldn’t fit. Then proceeded to show me clothing that was XXL+. I have struggled in recovery for anorexia since I was 14 and this has caused a huge relapse for me. If you have an ED, I would stay clear. This was a triggering experience. Being goth is about the music, not about the style. The gothic look is influenced by the music. Anyone can be goth regardless of their fashion or what they are wearing.

needless to say, I was REALLY nervous about visiting for the first time but the owner was really nice and accommodating. I’m extremely particular and maybe even strange about the way I shop and he accommodated to that. I’m from japan and I had my mom visit for me while she was around the area earlier in the year and I really loved all the clothing I got :) visiting again he ran me through everything and I ended up finding a lot of pieces I liked. I absolutely recommend stopping by if you get the chance to !!

My wife and I really enjoyed our visit to Matthew's store Bedlam! Beyond a deep knowledge of goth style and music we found his store selections to be carefully curated and incredibly fun to go through. Matthew provided excellent customer service and I left with an armful and plan to go back. These days we need to support our businesses in town and owners who care this much about what they provide. Support local!

AMAZING. I’m from California and I’d honestly fly in just to shop here. The owner was very amazing, welcoming, helpful, and had a good eye for my desired style and sizing. The selection was great, whatever goth style you’re looking for I’m sure you’ll find it here. The whole experience was amazing, and my boyfriend and I received awesome assistance. The owner is very well versed in goth style, music, and culture. While shopping here we knew we were in good hands. The owner is a very lovely person and my boyfriend and I had a great time chatting with him. I definitely recommend that all people interested in alternative style takes a look here.

owner is so rude & judgmental. someone in the reviews had an identical experience to mine. came in to shop for some punk or scene clothing for an upcoming show ive got & immediately when i got there, about 20 minutes after it was supposed to open the door was locked but lights were on. the owner came to the door & told me pretty rudely to “wait 5 minutes” cus he just got there.. then proceeded to tell me “you can look in here but we dont have anything like what ur wearing” mind u, i just came from school so i have jeans and a jacket on. so i waited like 10 minutes & he unlocked the door again & let me in. i looked around for like not even 3 minutes before he goes “you might wanna look in there its more ur style” & i repeated again i just cane from school & he interrupted me & rolled his eyes while i was saying that?? at that point i didnt feel welcome nor did i want to spend any money there so i left. do not spend ur money here this guy sucks

Tons of cool, and interesting clothing. Really there is something for everyone remotely alternative. A lot of the clothes are highly detailed, and intricate. Matthew is extremely passionate about the Goth scene, and is extremely helpful when choosing new items, or offering advice. So much Victorian or Industrial stuff, and there's a more affordable section of the store which still has a ton of cool, thrifty stuff as well. And I can't forget to mention the Goth music he's always playing, really makes the place feel like a proper bat cave

I do NOT recommend going to this store. It was my first time in bedlam and right from the start the owner was not welcoming. The owner is extremely rude and racist. I walked in with my friend and I was taking a picture of the clothing to show my sibling and the owner told me “no pictures are allowed in the store” in a very rude tone. My friend and I were looking around and as my friend was looking he began to freak out and say “can you call my phone, I can’t find it anywhere”. He also began to say he thinks a customer might’ve stole even tho no one else was in the store. I knew the second he said that he was lying. When my friend called the store phone, it was right next to him on the register. I’ve heard so many bad things about the owner and it was my first time going into the store and this is what I experienced. My friend and I did not buy anything from the store for a reason. I am not supporting a business where the owner is rude and disgusting to his customers for no reason. Also everything in the store was overpriced. If you’re looking for a goth store to go to, Bedlam is NOT it!

I would leave zero stars if I could. The gentleman in the store, who I'm presuming is the owner, Matthew, ignored my presence when I first walked into his store, further ignoring me when I tried to initiate the welcome w a simple hello. Radio silence. I was confused, but proceeded to browse the store anyway. After about 20 minutes of shopping while feeling silent judgement and side eyes, I had picked out a total of four or five things from both the front and back rooms that I thought were cute and wanted to try on.
After trying to get the owner's attention again to ask about fitting rooms, he actually acknowledged me this time, but very immediately aggressive, stating the fitting rooms were for trying on clothes that HE thought would fit me, not what clothes I picked out for my own body. I was shocked. I didn't asked for his opinion on my body size, what size to pick out, or his comparison of my curvy body to his "size 32". Matthew then went on to completely berate me for several minutes, straight up bodyshaming me. He said I should have picked out 2x (wear a large/10 in conventional stores), questioned my ability to pay, and honestly made me the most uncomfortable I have EVER been during a shopping experience. It was appalling to be so mistreated by this stranger who is hiding behind his dusty, dank storeroom.
I will obviously never give him my money, and hope that this review saves someone some unnecessary judgemental bull**** that he clearly dishes out on the regular. Save your money for a kind human being who deserves your time, attention and welcomes your business into their establishment, shame and judgement free.

I finally made my pilgrimage to Bedlam today and it was worth the 6 hours I drove there and back. The owner, Mathew, is very knowledgeable about the clothes he sells. I went in on tuesday, which he says is slowest, and he took me through almost everything in the strore and let me try it all on
while we talked music. It was truly an experience but here's my advice, walk in and talk to him directly before you look around. He will help you find what you are looking for but know that he knows his stuff. People say they "dress goth" but he knows that there's a style difference between goth, industrial, cyber goth, cyber punk, corporate goth, bondage, the list goes on. Ask Mathew for help and tell him what you like for fashion and he will guide you. He's honest to a fault so you can trust he's not trying to sell you just anything off the rack, he wants you to look good and feel comfortable

What a great experience I had at Bedlam. The owner was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about his stock. He asked some good questions then guided me through his store. I was able to find exactly what I was looking for. He also gave me polite and helpful feedback on the items I tried on. I will definitely go back. Bedlam is a gem!

I went to this store not that long ago with my mom, planning on spending my $300 dollars leftover from my birthday money on some goth clothes, as I love goth fashion and the music. Please note that I had just come from school before I went to the store, so I was wearing just some grey sweatpants and a hoodie; not the ideal thing I would’ve normally worn. When I got to the store, the owner started off our interaction by aggressively telling us to wait outside because he just got to the store himself, and proceeded to lock the door. I also need to mention the fact that he was already 30 minutes past the time that they were supposed to open. So I say okay understandingly, and around 10 minutes later he lets us in. I start looking around at the clothes and I liked some of it. There was one velvet top in particular that I liked very much, and I thought it might fit me too. So after a few minutes of looking around, I ask Matthew a question. Don’t remember what it was, I just remember him telling me that judging from what I was wearing, I would want to look in the other room because those clothes are “more alternative” and “my style”. So feeling slightly weirded out that he said that, I went in the other room where my mom was looking. At that point I didn’t want to spend my money on this place, but I decided to just let my mom look and see if she liked anything. I planned on buying her something for her birthday if she finds something she likes. She saw how visibly uncomfortable I was and asked if I was okay. I just said yes, and we went back to the other room with the clothes I was looking at in the beginning. Then a conversation starts with Matthew a few moments later. I show him the top I liked, asking him a question about it. He then proceeds to say that it probably won’t fit me. He looks me up and down while I’m wearing BAGGY CLOTHES, looks at my mom who is on the heavier side, (keep in mind we have two COMPLETE different body types), then back at my body and says “you’d need a 3XL”. I had never felt so uncomfortable and upset in a store while looking for clothes. Throughout the rest of the time there, I ended up finding a few things I liked but the entire time he kept being very rude. Right at the end, I pulled out my money to pay for everything and his entire attitude towards me changed. He started acting all nice and smiling while talking about things once he saw the cash. In the end, I bought the clothes and went home. I truly regret spending ANY money on his store, and I think it was a waste of time going there. I won’t be going back. F.Y.I, the top I liked did in fact fit on me in the end, so no Matthew, I did not need a 3XL ?.
