I am not a gym rat. I am not a fitness junkie. But I like a decadent meal and a few cocktails and maybe we can just all agree that I appreciate butter and laminated pastries and caramel sauce and Providence's range of abundant sweet treats (I'm looking at you Knead Doughnuts. And you, Aleppo Sweets!). My first few months at PE Fitness were a bit reluctant - my partner had gifted me with weekly personal training sessions for Christmas and I did not take kindly to the gift. Laurel, one of the two owners and trainers at the gym was gentle with me, allowing me to find my own pace and rhythms, but also challenged me to push myself just a little bit harder with each session. Fast forward five years and I'm happy to say that this place has made me a better and more balanced human! I've become a huge fan of the small-group classes. Something about this place draws really wonderful and like-minded folk together. Motivational without being cheesy, challenging without being intimidating, and immediately welcoming (without feeling cult-y), I cannot imagine another gym quite like this. Every few years I fall off for a couple of months, and I usually have an awful time getting back to it, but once I do, I feel a thousand times better - not to mention how much I appreciate the familiar faces and both Lisa and Laurel's guidance!

Great studio with two fantastic owners, Laurel and Lisa. Their group classes are fun and challenging and they are encouraging, supportive guides. I love their Tabata and Kettlebell Circuit classes. If getting in shape and improving your strength and endurance is your goal, this is the place!

I injured my hip over a year ago, but Lisa and Laurel have helped me continue to grow stronger and work harder without risking further injuries. The workout classes are designed so everyone can go at their own pace, each move is explained and then the coach walks around helping with proper form, modifications and motivation! The environment is positive and the emphasis is lifestyle changes, never a quick fix. Come join the family, you won't regret it.

I found this studio on Groupon, followed them on Instagram and decided to take a chance when I moved to the area--zero regrets! The owners are the most welcoming, friendly and encouraging people on Earth. You'll get challenging, intense workouts in a friendly environment that always welcomes modifications without judgement. And if that wasn't enough, they want to get to know and will remember any detail about yourself you share. You can't go wrong, take the chance and join PE Fitness you won't regret it!

Best place I've ever worked out hands down. Lisa and Laurel make you feel like part of the family while making you sweat. They always take pains to find your comfortable level of challenge and bring you there and no farther. And they're incredibly understanding and flexible with scheduling!

Lisa and Laurel are beautiful and genuine people. I became instant best friends with them during my first training session. I was looking to add to my fitness routine and have always had trouble working out on my own. PE was perfect and I wish I had found this place earlier. Their classes are fun and challenging at the same time. I never felt bored or felt like I was doing the same exercise over and over again. Each class is unique and different and trust me you ll keep going back for more. You get to use a wide variety of props and equipment (who knew flipping tires would be so much fun). PE offers everything you need - range of classes (for all levels) - from tabata to bootcamp to personnel training to hiking focussed exercises, an amazing community, a support system, and the best set of coaches.

You know what I don't like? Working out in any way. You know what Laurel makes me not completely hate? Working out. Now my fiancé and I wanted to get in shape for our wedding next year and we knew we had to start now. I chose PE fitness studio because it had the ambiance I wanted, a comfortable setting to work out that was a typical gym. They host small group classes and one on ones, so you won't catch some creep in a machine in the corner slowly moving while staring at you. Perfect. Not looking to go to a gym. I need someone to motivate me to not quit and just sit there. Laurel suggested we start with 20 half hour sessions with me and my fiancé. I couldn't commit so I agreed on 15 but will definitely be buying more. She motivates me by chatting me up about my favorite topics to get me forget about the agonizing pain in my butt as I squat across the room. You think 30 mins isn't a lot, but when you mix in cardio and the deathly push ups, trust me, it is. Laurel is a sweetheart and doesn't let me quit! The other day she threatened me with burpees if I tried to cheat on my across the room squats, aka I ran halfway across the room when she wasn't looking! Laurel is a sweetheart and soooooo flexible with scheduling. I 100% suggest one on one training with her. It's pricier than a gym but let's be honest, you weren't going to the gym. You're less likely to cancel when you have a wonderful sweet woman waiting on you!!! Did I mention she has an adorable pit bull puppy and she texts me photos of him all the time??? Because she does! She also checks in the next day to see how you're doing. This warm renovated mill Is the best place to force yourself to do something that we all know I 100% don't want to do! Join join join!!!!! You've never felt so at home!!

I'm really glad I found this place, wish I had sooner though. It is always a fun atmosphere where you immediately feel like you belong. The workouts are challenging but in the best way possible. Lisa and Laurel are the best motivators too!

Working out at PE has changed my view of fitness. I actually get excited to go in for my sessions now-after years and years of donating to the gym. They work with you to make sure you're getting what you need while pushing you a little harder each time. Laurel and Lisa are awesome, and I would absolutely recommend that you work out here. It's equal parts friendly chatter and ass-kicking. I really can't say enough good things about these ladies and the amazing space they run.

Aaron is knowledgeable, professional, and takes the time to personally aid everyone in the class. He keeps a calm environment, helps you get into a meditative mindset, but also practices some deep stretches that will work a sweat. Great yoga class!
