I have been taking my dog Lola to see Dr Burt for all health and treatment needs the last few years. She just had some teeth extracted and the care she received is unlike any other vet I have been to. The close attention and genuine care that is displayed and reassurance for all my concerns is so appreciated. The staff is incredible from beginning to end for any visit or treatment necessary. They treat your pet as if their own. I can't recommend Dr Burt and the staff enough to everyone looking for a place that delivers the highest quality care and attention. Thank you you for the gentle care, wish there was a higher rating I could leave. This is Lola right after surgery happy and healthy

They are very I have used Mount Hope animal hospital for other pets. I moved about and used another that in Rhode Island and one emergency in Swansea but I swear I Hope animal hospital is the best by far.

Do you love your animals? Guess what Mount Hope loves them too! This vet is always hopping, but the staff are friendly and responsive. They take care of our pets like they're their own. Sometimes you'll even meet the staff pets as well! You won't feel taken advantage off or led astray with the staff here, which I can't say is universal on the island...

Came in with my normally calm, sweet tempered cat for booster shots & a complete physical. The vet & her assistant had no clue how to handle a frightened cat, she was terrified, they kept throwing a towel on her & roughly grabbing her. She did not get a physical exam, they stuffed her back into the carrier.I had asked about checking her teeth earlier - she glanced at her teeth while she was in the carrier and said she needed a surgical procedure to remove the plaque. I asked about the blood tests but was told they could do it after surgery. Nothing except for the shots were done, my cat was traumatized & Iwasted my time & money. Never againNever again, it was a nightmare.

Over the course of the past year our 16-year-old lab was steadily declining in health. He was still playful, had an appetite, drank water, and didn't show any signs of stress. I often joked that he was still kicking five and a half years beyond the median age for a chocolate lab because he hadn't eaten everything yet. We built a ramp to help him get upstairs and continued to take him on walks and fed him some vet-recommended high-end meals plus some chewies for his hips. He was a little overweight (about 90lbs, 10 over the high end of average) last year, and he lost weight at a rate of about half a pound per week, which we assumed was due to the extra walks we were taking him on, but a vet told us that it's also just normal for dogs to lose weight when they're seniors.About a month ago he started stumbling a little bit more and wanted to lie down more during his walks and stopped wanting to take the ramp upstairs. We figured he was pretty old and it might be time to schedule putting him to sleep, which was hard for us because he was still playful and still didn't show any signs of stress or pain and was still eating, but we didn't want him to get to the point where it was hard for him. A couple days after we made the call to this vet to schedule the appointment (which was to take place one week after we called), his health started declining much faster. He wouldn't finish his meals and couldn't walk for very long (though he still lumbered after rabbits and would bring toys to you to toss a couple feet away for him to fetch). Three days before the appointment he stopped drinking water and struggled to get around, so we called family over to spend as much time with him as we could. He lost almost all of his water weight in those days and we were concerned that he was now suffering. On the day of the appointment they weighed him and he was 49 lbs. There were four of us in the room petting him and trying not to cry in front of him so he doesn't stress, when a male vet comes in and decides the most important thing to do was to tell us, sternly, that he had lost a lot of weight over the past year and kept repeating that he didn't understand why we hadn't brought him in and that they could have done something to make him live longer. Never mind that he was 16, never mind that a year ago he needed to lose weight, never mind that more than 50% of a dog's body weight is water and he hadn't been eating or drinking for almost three full days, never mind that he had been playful and active and eating and showed no signs of suffering up until we called them. He stayed in the room and kept reiterating this as we stood around our dog petting him and sobbing, as if we were horrible people for not opting to make an Alex James Murphy out of him in a bid to make him live forever, until we told him "I think we get it", when he then left the room.He came in again and he and a female vet applied the procedure to him and he passed peacefully, and during the procedure they were compassionate. I don't know if he saw that we were a loving family, or if the fact that he hadn't been drinking suddenly occurred to him to account for the particularly drastic loss of weight in the last few days, or if he realized how he was coming across, but it felt like he took an opportunity to make a painful moment worse by making those about to lose a loved one into monsters. The other reviews on here seem fine, so maybe he just had heartburn yesterday and decided to make it our problem, your mileage may vary, but only a serious emergency would ever bring me back here.

Awesomenest vet around! We travel from out of State to come here. Granted it's only 20 miles but there are six vet clinics closer we could choose to trust our animals to. Always good care and at reasonable cost. We have 3 pets and they give us a discount to kinda help manage the costs.

Love Dr Bert been coming for years with multiple cats and guinea pigs...the only thing I didn't like was when walking in to check out. All 4 girls behind counter didn't even look up to acknowledge my presence or greet me to say someone would be right with me and my pet. I waited and waited until 3 of them disappeared into the back, and then I had to ask the last one if someone was going to check me in and she was a bit rude in her response. I get they're busy but you catch more vinegar with honey... happy customers=returning customers
