Not a fan if this location. I love Peoples Credit Union generally speaking. This location takes a long time to do anything. The overall service is meh. Though it's longer to get to branch in Middletown it's actually faster because of the better, more attentive service.

I have been banking with Peoples for over 30 years and have never had a bad experience until today. I regret that I did not take note of the bank tellers name and she is not someone I am familiar with. I came in with my 17 year old son to cash his tax refund check as he does not have a bank account yet (his deposits are made on a debit card through his job). I stated that I was cashing his check for him (and had double endorsed the check). She said “Does he have an account with us?” And I replied “No, but I do.” She then states, very rudely as if I had been argumentative, “I understand that but we do not accept double endorsed checks any longer. He has to go where he banks!”Now let me say, I was unaware of the new policy as I have cashed checks for my minor children for years and also if my son had a bank account of his own, we clearly would have gone that route to begin with.Again, I must stress that this is the very first time I’ve had an experience like this. Every other employee has always been professional, friendly and welcoming. This is a huge disappointment. If it helps in any way, this happened around 10:15 this morning.

Bank makes you give all of your personal information to cash one of their customers checks. So if you don't have a health insurance card then don't bother trying to cash a check there. They don't want to cash them and tried to convince me not to be expressing it would take like 20 minutes. They literally took my health insurance card. This is the only bank in all my years in business have I ever seen such absurd requests.

I was referred to Peoples Credit Union after our first year in business and at first we were very excited to open our first business checking account with Peoples Credit Union. After over two years of being with Peoples and dealing with the awful hours of operations, unhappy staff, outdated atm machines and mobile banking services and support that did not work properly we came to the conclusion that this bank is not working out.During this epidemic of Covid-19 most businesses and banks are trying to take the right precautions and sefety measures so that they can open their doors for customers/clients. The Peoples Credit Union branch In Portsmouth and other locations that I am aware of are one of the only banks that are not allowing customers to come inside even with an appointment. So far they will only talk with us over the phone or through the drive through. This lack of effort and interaction seems like an excuse to not have to deal with people Therefore, We have no other choice but to close our business account and start fresh with a new bank. They could not help us at all financialy. Any time we wanted to sit down and discuss options in the past we felt rushed out the door with know answers. Recently we tried to make an appointmnet to sit down and talk with the bank manager. They gave us a card at the drive through and told us to call first thing in the morning. It took till 3:00 pm for her to finally get on the phone with one of us only to tell me " sir can I please call you back in 10 min I have another customer I need to take care of" we did not hear back from her for another two days which then was a mid saturday afternoon unexpectedly. She must have forgoten about us or put us on the bottom of her important list because last I checked I thought We were customer's just like everyone else. We our very unhappy with this branch and disapointed in Peoples Credit Union. We were hoping for more options and customer support. Instead we recieved a regection phone call for a business line of credit for a small amount $5000 not $50,000 - but $5000 to allow a little breathing room for the business and a little peace of mind for our family. The call lasted a total of 3 min and know other alternative options were brought to our attention. We were told you can always try again in another 6 months to a year. Thats what we get for putting our trust in a credit union and working 10-12 hr days to make ends meet. Thanks Peoples!! We really appreciate all the help!!!We hope this review helps someone before they make the same mistake we did. Find a bank that will work for you not against you.Best Regards,JK

Another personalized neighborhood place. Staff are always helpful and courteous. Have never had a poor experience at either of their branches. Have been a member for 20+ years.
